AIBU?

Was AIBU to shout at my neighbour's nephew? Sooo cross!

I share a drive with my neighbour - one side is mine and one side is hers. We generally get on well, no issues.

However, her plumber nephew rents her garage and a few weeks ago I've found him parked on my drive when no car was on her drive just because he couldn't be bothered to move her bins. I asked him to move and he said, ''well, you're not using the drive love'' then smiled and refused to move until he'd finished moving stuff out of the garage.

I told him then that I use my drive (I don't have a car but my work colleague Loren parks there on her shifts, and my family and friends also park on my drive at various times when they visit, almost daily).

I told him to knock on my door and ask to use my drive in future.

This evening Loren rang the doorbell because 'a van was in the way'. Yes, his van was parked on my drive blocking her car. He was in the garage and in NO hurry to move his van.

I lost my temper, said why hadn't he asked like I told him to before and had to actually shout at him so he would move his van out of Loren's way. My neighbour actually came out, looked a bit nervous and went back in.

Was AIBU to shout at the annoying entitled fucker him?
I didn't want to fall out with my neighbour but she is useless at being assertive with men.
I still said he can ASK if he needs to park there temporarily in future.

Rant over. I feel better now!

Yanbu about him parking on your drive / blocking it.

Yabu to presume your neighbour isn't assertive with men unless you have other examples?

Yabu to be quite so enraged by it...

You catch more bees with honey.

YANBU. You asked politely and instead of moving it, he gave you the 'little woman' routine.

Yes SpottyDottie he gave me the 'little woman routine' twice now and that is probably what made me go so ballistic.

Get Loren to park her car in front of his van so he can't get off the drive next time & then fuck off to the pub for the evening....

Good idea to park in front of his van, unfortunately her car was stuck behind it.

YWDNBU. What a cheeky twat.

This little woman would have his van towed away next time.

Or maybe I should get my cat to claw his tyres.

I swear that if I was a man (with a Rottweiler or similar preferably) he would never park on my drive.

Tell him he's no longer welcome to park there at all, never mind asking anymore! If he does, get someone to block him in- Loren?- and clear off out for a couple of hours.

Poo on his windscreen. Can't beat a good dirty protest.

Speak to your neighbour.

Tell her that if he parks there again, you will have it towed. End of. Twat giving you the Little Woman routine.

hook a chain across your driveway. He probably won;t be bothered to get out and un hook it. Tho he may just park across the driveway instead.

No helpful advice I'm afraid (I had similar issues in the past and it was a nightmare to sort out) but YANBU, what a wanker.

Keep someone on stand by, as soon as it happens get him blocked in, don't go out though stay in and if he asks you to move say yeah coming and saunter out when it suits you/ your visitor. I'm passive aggressive ALL the way!

Threaten to have a word with your local council regarding using a domestic garage for business use. Also, if your neighbour is charging him rent I expect she is declaring it to HMRC. ;)

This morning my neighbour came round to apologise; it turns out that she told him off as well.

Interestingly he lied and isn't actually her nephew - just a 'friend of a friend of a friend'!

My neighbour told him to use her drive in future and says he is getting a lock up soon, so all is sorted, phew!

Just get your friends/neighbour to block him in if he does it again! As in - park RIGHT behind him so he can't get out without coming to ask whoever is in YOURS to move THEIR car... He'll soon get the message!
