AIBU?

To reply to my ex's text with 'fuck off'?

It's my birthday today

In the 13 years we were together he either forgot, happened to be ill but was fine the days either side, promised me we would do something special and then something would crop up, or on the rare occasions he bought me something it was actually something he wanted -like a cd rewriter!

Consequently for 13 years I would spend some if not all the day crying

He has failed to pay maintenance this month and as a consequence of prioritising putting food on the table I can't afford to take my children out to celebrate -we will be dodging showers having a picnic in the park

He has sent me a text at 6.50 this morning saying 'happy birthday, hope you have a lovely day xx'

Can I reply with 'fuck off'

It would make my day!

Not that I will but grrrr

Prick!

Shoulder to cry on here.

There's no harm in sending the F O text but it wouldn't change things and you wouldn't have the feeling you want for long. Maybe block his number?

Hope you'll have a good birthday all the same and hope your picnic will bring you all some happiness.

Flowers

Well at least he's not your DP any more. I wouldn't respond to his message at all today.

Go and have a lovely picnic with your kids, have a wonderful birthday.

Get on yo him about the maintenance tomorrow, that's totally unfair of him.

Won't be informal for long -grr

I'm sure my ex does that just to hack me off. My blood boils when he puts xx on the end of texts.. I wouldn't be able to stop myself from telling him to FO

What a git he is.
I hope you have a happy birthday and the showers don't materialise so you can have a lovely picnic.

Certainly change the informal maintenance agreement, your DC need the money.

Regarding the message, perhaps a nice 'thank you, we are going to have an amazing day!' would show him that you're above his stupid games.

What about "Thanks! I'm treating myself to a court order for maintenance!"

I would ignore - don't give him the satisfaction.

Happy birthday Thanks

Who knows when the post comes your parents, siblings, friends might have slipped a tenner in a card & you can treat yourself today after all

You can stand at the bottom of your garden and yell F O to him (and hope all those angry vibes reach him and ruin his day). And then have a wonderful time in the park with your children, who love you unconditionally.

SanityClause · 03/08/2013 08:03

But actually, don't send the text I suggested.

I just put it there to (hopefully) make you smile.

Have a lovely birthday. Flowers

Happy birthday chicken. Sorry for the shite situation.

I get similar from my ex and I just ignore ignore ignore.

I did however change his name in my phone to Cuntychops.

So when he does text or ring I have a little giggle to myself

My ex was the same and I still get a bit irrationally upset around my birthday like I expect it to be a crap day where nobody bothers. My dh and friends were wonderful this year so I may have to start feeling better about things!

Happy birthday. Picnic in the park sounds lovely.
