How do you do it?!
I'm about a size 16 and wore a maxi dress yesterday and the pain from the top of my legs rubbing together was horrible! Really hurt!
I won't be wear a dress or skirt for the rest of summer I don't think.
And my legs leave a lot to be desired so that rules shorts out too.
Looks like I'm spending the entire summer in cropped trousers and strappy tops!

Great thread! Vaseline works as well as more expensive options!

I tried body glide lanacane, talc etc but had to keep re-applying. I bought some shaper pants that go down my thigh but it's too hot to even wear tights lately. I googled 'chub rub' and the USA have loads of ideas online x

I have two pairs of shorts from Evans that work wonders. They're a very gentle stretchy material so they're not hot and they don't pinch like cycling shorts would.

Talc and femfresh deodrant.

Talc + anti chaffing cream = Asda Baby Liquid Talc

Actually a smooth cream glides on with a totally non sticky finish, and smells like a baby! And cheap as chips smile

brilliant thread. I bought some anti-chafing gel from Decathlon at the weekend and I think it would have stopped chafing but I hated the sensation of my thighs touching each other (I haven't worn a skirt in the summer for years) so I went back to my scruffy cropped jeans after about half an hour.

One thing about the Sloggi pants which I can't tell from the picture - does that seam go all the way under? I cannot bear a seam up me fanjo (not all that keen on it over me tummy either - the line imprinted on your tum always looks so attractive, I think . . .).

My jeans always go at the inner thigh too. I'm not even particularly chubby though a few pounds off and some toning up wouldn't go amiss, I suppose.

Several options - ladies I know use Bodyglide (don't like it), I wear either knee-length hose or cycling shorts. Have just ordered some Bandelettes to try and see whether they're an acceptable alternative.

Got married last month and had a very sexy pair of knee-length sloggi underpants under my wedding dress!

Mitchum roll on, brilliant.

I used to wear cycling shorts or spanks type pants but had been getting way too hot. I was going to buy the lanacane cream but decided to give roll on deodorant a try first and I'm so glad I did. I've had bone dry, chafe free thighs ever since even though the rest of me has been melting.

*not sweaty lol x

Fluffyears Wed 24-Jul-13 21:27:40

This is why I love my lace band things as bit sweaty and no thrush issues that tights can cause in warm weather x

Evans comfort shorts are great - buy them in a size bigger than you think and then they don't roll up as some posters have suggested. I will be looking at Body Glide!

I am a size 10 (I can fit in an 8 in skirts but not in trousers due to thigh issue) and I suffer too even with tights on. My tights get all bobbly between the thighs because f this. I may try cycling undershorts. They are very like control pants actually but the only problem is the padded bum area - bit sweaty!

Bubbles1066 Wed 24-Jul-13 19:56:07

Cut off tights for me. I'm a size 10 but seem to carry all my weight on my upper thighs. Very annoying.

I make coloured (to match somewhat) cycle shorts out of lightweight knits like bamboo or rayon. Not only are they more comfy, but I don't have to be as ladylike when doing things like gardening.

Another vote for cycling shorts

Oh dear I get awful 'chub rub' I have tried all the products. The best thing I found is an American company called bandelettes.com. They ship internationally from NYC and I live in Scotland. I ordered the product on sSunday and it arrived within a week. Basically they are stretchy lace bands with a silicon grip inside that you place round thigh at thickest part like a garter. Despite being like hold ups they do not fall down like those. I wore them during a nice day out with lots of walking and through an entire work day. They barely moved and I forgot I had them on. They are lacy and look nice and very breathable. Dresses are back on for me. I ordered mine via etsy uk they cost about £15 so you don't pay tax either. I really recommend them just make sure you measure correctly and order the smaller size if in between sizes so they grip well, they stretch very well. Just don't use lotions or talc with them.

The DDs have exactly what we need for PE, they are called skorts.

Now if some one did a nice denim, just above the knees scort, instead of a bum skimming black nylon one...

WeightyKaty Sun 21-Jul-13 22:51:45

Lots of longline pants on eBay. Also spanx do the trick too. Have tried deodorant too which is fine but w long Knicks you know there won't be a problem

AtAmber Sun 21-Jul-13 22:35:45

I have bought some comfort shorts from Evans but haven't tried them yet. Do you wear them with knickers as well or just by themself?

miffybun73 Sun 21-Jul-13 22:28:34

Baby powder on the inner thighs works wonders.

I tried deoderant today and am most impressed! grin
Shame my shoes still rubbed though... angry

wetdog that is genius!

I read that a MNetter used a cotton napkin/serviette and popped that in her pants so it hung down between her legs to stop them rubbing.

Think it was an emergency thing as she already had really bad chafing on her thighs.

I thought that was genius - found it - thread is here.

monicalewinski Sat 20-Jul-13 18:52:02

BeyondTheLimits I think you're onto something!! I got my bodyglide delivered yesterday (after reading this thread) and it worked a treat - I will prob look at long knickers too now.

I thought I must be in a minority with my chafing thighs as everyone has looked so effortless in their dresses - thank god for this thread!

Lj8893 Sat 20-Jul-13 18:49:19

Yeah, like a skirt with an inside pair of loose shorts if that makes sense?

I would buy one in every colour!
