Yes Pictish, and they are definitely not cheap activities.

We don't mind paying a bit for a good holiday but since the DCs have been in school we just can't justify the prices there. We had a great time there when they DD1 was a toddler, so it's a shame that now they are of an age that they would get the most out of it it is just extortionate.

I know about supply and demand, but this company really takes the piss in school holidays and for that reason they won't get our money.

I went to France for almost two weeks in August last year. Had a nice apartment overlooking the sea, car ferry, ate out every day and did lots of visiting museums and attractions and it cost far less. I also went to Disneyworld five years ago and it cost about that for two weeks and we stayed in a five star hotel in Sarasota for the second week.

It's a holiday camp and it is just posh Butlins

pictish Sat 06-Jul-13 09:42:08

Yes posh butlins.

It's still dirty and overcrowded and full of overpriced crap, but you pay extra so you can be assured there will be no chavs impinging on your good time.

Not £4.5k at all, sorry.

23rd August £1728 in a Comfort, £1728 in a Comfort Plus, £1808 in a Woodland Lodge, £1828 in an exec 2 storey, £2028 in an exec lodge.

All 2 bed.

The most expensive accommodation, exec 4 bed villa is £3348. Which is a lot, but it's not what you said, and it's not for 2 adults and a toddler, it's designed for two families to share I believe.

pictish Sat 06-Jul-13 09:47:03

I think £1728 is still a phenomenal amount!

soapboxqueen Sat 06-Jul-13 09:47:11

I love Center parcs. I think the 4.5k would have been for the tree house or similar. they are very expensive.

Growlithe Sat 06-Jul-13 09:48:05

Still daft money PatPig.

lemontwist Sat 06-Jul-13 09:48:56

Are you sure thats right. Ive just done a search with those criteria and you can get the exec penthouse for approx £1300!

katydid02 Sat 06-Jul-13 09:49:05

£1668 is the price quoted for a week at Longleat in a standard villa from Friday 1st August.

£4000 would get you a week in an exclusive 4 bedroom lodge for 8 people.

lemontwist Sat 06-Jul-13 09:50:26

Sorry x post. Agreed still silly money though consideringt the cost of alternative hoidays.

sweetsummerlove Sat 06-Jul-13 09:54:10

try BLUESTONE WALES ...so much newer and better than CP and much cheaper! Paid 250 for 4 adults/2 children in march, mon-fri. it was sooo good.

landofsoapandglory Sat 06-Jul-13 09:58:37

We're going to Majorca for a week for £1200, that's 2 adults and a 16yo.

It never ceases to amaze me how much holiday companies put their prices up in school holidays. It's daylight robbery IMO.

Vivacia Sat 06-Jul-13 10:00:35

I don't understand the outrage.

Branleuse Sat 06-Jul-13 10:04:06

its a quarter of that for a 4day break in elveden.

centerparcs is lovely off season when you can get a good price and weve been a few times, but i wouldnt pay that much in a million years

floatyjosmum Sat 06-Jul-13 10:20:16

We've discovered the only way it's affordable is to go midweek during term time!

malteserzz Sat 06-Jul-13 10:23:27

I love center parcs but wouldn't pay that, we normally go in one of the half terms look for the cheapest one ! Can't wait till the new one opens at Woburn so we can try there

Mortified have you done a lot of prices because the website will " remember you" and charge you more try clearing the cache.

MortifiedAdams Sat 06-Jul-13 12:49:21

Never thought about the cache but it is a works computer so dont how many other people have looked.

A guy in the office suggested it; I put in all the right info and pressed search. He nearly fell off his chair too.

katydid02 Sat 06-Jul-13 13:10:18

Woburn is open for bookings now, it has been for a couple of weeks at least.

perplexedpirate Sat 06-Jul-13 13:12:16

Whaaaaatttt?! I had no idea it was that kind of price.
How do they justify that???

Yes I think the price goes up every time you look at the site. Same with all holidays. Boggling how they manage that one. Imagine if every online shop did that!
