You need to defiantly go to A&E.
Did he defiantly do that?
Tomorrow I will defiantly phone them.

I wand to defiantly punch these people. Definitely.

Acually I love a misuse of definatly, it usually makes for such an amusing sentence.

Celador Thu 04-Jul-13 21:35:43

People misspelling words deliberately drives me insane, e.g. 'ishoos' instead of 'issues'.

Why?! They're both 6 letters so you don't save ANY TIME writing it wrongly.

Humph

'and wa la!' instead of 'voila!' was my absolute favourite. Draws makes me stably, although I am quite taken with 'Chester draws'. <inconsistent pedant>

So many times recently on Facebook I've seen discusting - I don't know if it's some kind of in joke or whether a huge proportion of the population actually think that's the correct spelling.

YANBU.

PerchedOnMyPeddleStool Thu 04-Jul-13 21:43:21

Wa la just made me laugh.

Wa la!! smile

Not a spelling one exactly but l bet she'd have struggled to spell it.

My daughter was asked six times at least by woman in estate agents with massive long false nails whether she agreed with the 'infantry'.

I thought l would have to be tied down if she said it again. angry
I felt like saying 'its fucking inventory you moron' 'if you spent more time in the library than the nail salon love....'

MalcolmTuckersMum Thu 04-Jul-13 21:44:01

Yes yes yes Artisan - just been reading a thread with errant 'looses' all over the place. It makes me want to scream! They don't even sound the bloody same so what is the excuse?

LuisSuarezTeeth Thu 04-Jul-13 21:45:59

it is worse being a pedant who can not spell and has a dodgy keyboard. I want to slap my younger self for being so stupid with spellings. hmm

revealall Thu 04-Jul-13 21:50:07

I would love to be able to spell "definitely" or whatever it is but I just can't .Too many i and e 's and if I get it right once it's wrong the next time.

Sorry.

SkinnybitchWannabe Thu 04-Jul-13 21:50:25

My son is called James. We got a note from his teacher today saying, "Jame's new teacher is...." This is the second time it has happened

Fakebook Thu 04-Jul-13 21:50:51

Self scented

"Driving licence", not "driving license"

"In my defence", not "in my defense"

JacqueslePeacock Thu 04-Jul-13 21:52:05

But inventory is pronounced a lot like infantry. confused Isn't it?

Fakebook Thu 04-Jul-13 21:52:32

I've seen a lot of people write "jags" instead of "jabs" on here too. I just imagine a nurse hurtling a jaguar exhaust into a patients arm everytime I read "I'm going to get the flu jag".

MyNameIsSuz Thu 04-Jul-13 21:53:15

The one I see a lot in my Facebook news feed is "his" instead of "he's", as in "his coming over later". This annoys me a lot more than defiantly/definitely, as at least I can sort of understand why someone would think there was an a in the middle of definitely as that's more how it's pronounced.

ArtisanLentilWeaver Thu 04-Jul-13 21:53:16

"I am afraid I may loose my purse"

"Next door's dog is running lose" <stab>

Pagwatch Thu 04-Jul-13 21:53:55

Jags isn't a misspelling.
That is what they call them in the USA

Fakebook Thu 04-Jul-13 21:55:07

I thought that it was used too often to be a mistake!

MammaTJ Thu 04-Jul-13 21:55:39

I take deep breaths and try to justify with typing errors.

Pagwatch Thu 04-Jul-13 21:56:21

It's weird though isn't it?

WilsonFrickett Thu 04-Jul-13 21:56:36

Ahem.

Jags is also Scottish. We go for our jags. Thistles are also jaggy.

Fakebook Thu 04-Jul-13 21:56:41

Oh apparently they say jag in Scotland too.

HoppinMad Thu 04-Jul-13 21:57:37

Freind. Very elementary but I have seen friend spelt wrong over and over again.
I wont be your 'freind' for much fecking longer if you dont learn to spell it correctly!

Argh

WilsonFrickett Thu 04-Jul-13 21:57:42

A jab is a punch, come to think of it.

<does a wa la just for perched>
