or even garlic bread with a pasta dish?

Have people not heard of carb overload confused.

HeySoulSister Sun 23-Jun-13 18:51:07

No they haven't.... Hence obesity exists

That's a ridiculous meal.

Where's the rice? grin

It's MADNESS!

Soooo glad someone else feels the same way.

I think "very odd indeed" is a massive overstatement, so YABU.

usualsuspect Sun 23-Jun-13 18:52:29

It's odd not to have garlic bread with pizza.

thebody Sun 23-Jun-13 18:53:33

You need to get out more ha ha. Sounds lovely to me.

My teens need this much carb overload to fill up and they are all skinny.

You can't cook for toddlers and yourself like you cook for teens.

We have oven chips, a few slices of pizza and peas occasionally. And we are the furthest away from obese as you can get so yabu.

JADS Sun 23-Jun-13 18:55:41

YANBU with regards to chips

YABU with regards to garlic bread, yum!

My MIL thinks lasagne and jacket potato work together as a meal. That is odd.

Myliferocks Sun 23-Jun-13 18:55:43

My DC have half a pizza and garlic bread on a Saturday. They have both as it is cheaper than getting enough pizza for them all.

My dad had sprouts with his pizza. Pronounced pitsa.

I'm low carbing so it sounds crazy to me.

HeySoulSister Sun 23-Jun-13 18:56:53

It doesn't fill them up tho... Carb/sugar fest leaves you craving more. With teens it's a false economy. My 3 are all mooching in the kitchen less than an hour later

Labradorwhisperer Sun 23-Jun-13 18:57:09

It's a question of portion size... One slice of pizza and a few chips, ok. Whole pizza and chips, not ok. I agree however that on the whole, double carbs can be bad news! (Unless its cake + cake) smile

Xmasbaby11 Sun 23-Jun-13 18:57:17

Not that I eat it, but that combo has been around for years, so it doesn't surprise me. Mini pizza, beans and chips was pretty common in the 80s!

exoticfruits Sun 23-Jun-13 18:58:04

I was amazed on holiday in Cornwall to get a take away pizza and be asked if I wanted chips. When I queried it apparently most people wanted both. It explained why there were so many fat families on the beach!

IsThatTrue Sun 23-Jun-13 19:01:28

That's my dinner, pizza and chips, not a whole pizza or many chips tbh but I love them together!

And garlic bread and pasta mmmmmm

marriedinwhiteagain Sun 23-Jun-13 19:02:45

I wouldn't but an awful lot do. Cheesy chips with mayo anyone? They "all" seem to like that too.

My lot want yorkies and roasties with dinner tonight. Gets up to put on yorkies !!

raffle Sun 23-Jun-13 19:03:31

Eh? This is standard combo around these parts. YABU to call it very odd indeed.

McNewPants2013 Sun 23-Jun-13 19:05:50

It ok in moderation.

I do sometimes have it but I know exactly what you mean. Most meals are based around one type of carb.
Unless you go to a pub in Newcastle where they garnish their jacket potato lunches with crisps.

Hulababy Sun 23-Jun-13 19:08:05

A slice or two of pizza, with a slice of garlic bread, and a big dollop of coleslaw sounds good to me. Not for every day obviously, but yes - works for me.

Pasta and garlic bread also go well together ime.

Badvoc Sun 23-Jun-13 19:08:18

My ds1 thinks Pizza and chips is the food of the gods so Yabu.

shazbean Sun 23-Jun-13 19:08:19

Once in a blue moon - fine.
Chips and macaroni cheese with garlic bread - really?! I can eat junk food but for some reason that combination turns my stomach.

Yonididnaedaethat Sun 23-Jun-13 19:08:56

Oh dear I had deep fried pizza and chips from the chippy last night blush
