My DH says it is unreasonable as 3-4 should be sufficient - I say he is BU - Mumsnet jury return the verdict please

Eyesunderarock Sun 16-Jun-13 13:38:10

Don't start that. We have a lot of varieties of port too.

YADNBU, just had a quick look & I have,

Cheddar mild
Cheddar medium
Cheddar mature
Parmesan
Halloumi
Mozzarella
Gruyere
Manchego
Feta
Stilton
Brie
Canarejal
Philadelphia
And, err, Laughing cow.

That's 14 - I may have gone too far. I do like cheese though...

Eyes bad and I will take care of eating the blue grin

FeegleFion Sun 16-Jun-13 13:40:04

Eyes please PM me your address ASAP and get all that lovely port decanted wink

badbride Sun 16-Jun-13 13:41:23

Fear not, Eyesunder, the slipcote and manchego will be more than acceptable substitutes grin . Irony is that I detest blue cheese, but feel I have to get some in for guests to be polite. Mostly, they hate it too!

He is being ridiclulous. But then we are very, very fond of cheese in this house.

We currently have, not all full btw.

Feta
Philadelphia
Boursin
Camembert
Baby bel and more than one type
Edam
Parmesan
Cheddar - block and grated
Leicester
Dairy lea (dc's prefer this to phili)
Some sliced cheese
Brie
Mozzerella.

Shit we have a massive problem with cheese.. But anyway, ltb.

I have six but that's because I just finished the Brie and Norfolk dapple

Your dh is unreasonable grin

badbride Sun 16-Jun-13 13:44:57

I recommend taking all this cheese and melting it together into a giant fondue. Then eating it, with plenty of wine

GibberTheMonkey Sun 16-Jun-13 13:45:08

Oh and Parmesan in the freezer

We've currently got:

Medium Cheddar
Vintage cheddar
mozerella
parmesan
Boursin and black pepper
Feta
Paneer
Cream cheese

Yanbu.

ah... 9.. I forgot the block of manchego that is lurking somewhere at the back!

TheRealFellatio Sun 16-Jun-13 13:49:00

I currently have:

mozzarella
ricotta
cheddar
parmesan
feta
halloumi
brie
boursin
emmenthal

Eyesunderarock Sun 16-Jun-13 13:50:25

Not looking in the outside fridge. No. There might be Long Term Cheese Storage there.
DD's coming home for the summer, that will alter the varieties a bit.

It's funny how they sneak up on you -- I was just thinking we're a bit low at the minute, only have a couple, but we have six.

Very stinky camembert
St Agur (that's blue!)
Parmesan
Etorki
Emmental
Feta
Laughing cow, although I kind of think that's only half a cheese smile

SanityClause Sun 16-Jun-13 13:54:52

Feta
Parmesan
Cheddar
St Agur
Smoked Bavarian cheese
Roule

Hmm. That's only six.

So, yes, YABU, as the only reasonable number of cheeses to have in a fridge should be equal to the number of cheeses in my fridge.

<gavel>

I miss hallloumi cheese so much! Hard to find where we live. [sad cheese face]

SanityClause Sun 16-Jun-13 13:56:03

Ooh, just remembered goats cheese. YANBU, after all!

Engelsemama Sun 16-Jun-13 13:57:33

I'm feeling some cheese envy envy

We have:
Bog standard Dutch cheese (I really can't explain what it is in any other way. DH (Dutchie) insists it is not edam which is apparently, "The crap we send abroad because it's so awful and Dutch people will not eat it." hmm
Brie
Blue Cheese
Cream cheese with herbs

And that's it! We usually have some really nice old cheese, feta, mozzarella, Dutch spreadable cheese (not like anything I've seen in UK and very yummy - not just for kids) and (if I'm feeling flush when I go to the supermarket) some Babybels.

Unfortunately DH has high cholesterol and I'm still trying to lose the last 5kg of baby weight so cheese has been off the menu not that you would know from our fridge .

But, YANBU. LTB grin

raisah Sun 16-Jun-13 13:57:41

not as many as the others but in my fridge lives:
red leicester
cheddar

halloumi (grilled with olive oil & chilli.flakes - lovely)

cheese strings- for dc Not real cheese but I blame my cm for making them addicted to the stuff!

chocolate philadelphia spread - I am hooked on the stuff

SueDoku Sun 16-Jun-13 13:59:41

YADNBU - there's only me here and in the fridge are
Philadelphia
Mature cheddar
Shropshire Blue
Stilton
Roquefort
Emmental
Brie
Leerdhammer
Pecorino
can you tell that I like cheese... grin

Lots of my favourite cheeses mentioned here, yummy, especially Camembert, but baked in the oven, with sundried tomato bread to dip in smile

We have:

Pilgrims choice, punchy strong, and rich and smooth.
Shame there are no crackers, thoughhmm

Definitely can't have TOO much cheese, ever. End of.

PatPig Sun 16-Jun-13 14:05:36

We have:

Cheddar (extra-strong)
Parmesan
Roquefort
Mozzarella
La Tur
Dolcelatte
Gorgonzola Dolce
Gorgonzola Picante
Cambazola
Emmental (sliced)
Petit Berhaut
Old Amsterdam

Gorgonzola Dolce is the best..... But quite impressed by the Petit Berhaut as well, was on 'reduced to clear' in Waitrose.

Engelsemama Sun 16-Jun-13 14:08:16

crushed you have just reminded me we are almost out of crackers grin
