AIBU or was tonight's episode the most convoluted piece of crap ever? I was reallfy excited about its return to our screens, and was all ready for a good old intrigue only to be presented with a pile of utter nonsense with what appeared to be a series of plot holes loosely strung together with really unlikely (even for TV) coincidences. Will never get that 90 minutes back...Angry

Agree.

I was looking forward to it.

Waste of 90 mins. An embarrassment for the bbc and all those actors

Maybe it was April fools joke? It sure seemed like it.

It even took the typical Jonathan creek joke to the max and used it as a story line.

It Did Not Work

Tbh, I'm alone in the house and quite jumpy, so was relieved it was a bit daft in the end. I also had to google Rik Mayall to see if he was really in a wheelchair Blush He was good.

Bring back the windmill. At least he still has The Coat.

It was dire.

Rik Mayall was the only highlight of the show.

Loved it until the last 20 minutes. Why did they do it ? I just don't get why the woman helped cover up the accidental death of her father, with the bf who had been shagging around. What was the point ? It was an accident.Well it wasn't as Tue chainsawvhsd been fiddled with, but it wasn't the fault of the bloke. And as for the police officers trying to kill them....
Lived it being back though. Hope the three episodes there doing latter in the year are better. Loved SS and RM.

I was a bit baffled. No windmill, and he was married. V disappointing. Sad

I've neber watched JC before and not sure I will again. i like AD and SS so gavr it a go (and there was nothing else on). The conspiracy and the police was utterly bizarre. It was just tagged on at the end. I am still completely mystified as to why they brought the dismembered head back to the house, the whole arrangement of the 'body', the photo through the keyhole? What a load of unbelievable rubbish.

Not sure AD's relationship rang true either.

YANBU!! Hilarious yet disturbing that two seemingly normal people would witness a horrendous, self-inflicted accident and then use it opportunistically to give Jo Lumley a religious conversion Confused. Then it always was a bit far-fetched...

I found it quite creepy until the end section - agree that the logic of chopping up a body, bringing it home, tricking her Mum (out of love?) into seeing his bloody corpse and then making it disappear was so clumsy. JC appeared too late in the show, there was v little humour, and with him being married no chance of the clumsy courtship that he always used to have. Won't stop me watching the next one though

It was awful. I was so disappointed.

And who tried to strangle SS in the quiet room? was it the police? If so what were they doing there?

Why did she make it look like he'd died in... Never mind. CBA TBH

Yanbu.
The plot reached the bottom of the barrel and then started to dig...

The old episodes are the best. As ever. Sad

I also googled Rik Mayall Blush But unfortunately one of the DC came down about an hour into it and we missed the end.

Googling Rik Mayall? Shock Young Ones. Bottom, Blackadder, Drop Dead Fred. To name a few. Woof!

I thought Rik Mayall's performance was dire! The whole thing was massively disappointing, but he was a low point.

I was so disappointed too. The plot was awful, didn't seem to pull together at all. What a shame, was so looking forward to it.

DH and I were really looking forward to it but it was just terrible! (don't get me started on labyrinth..)

Yes it was rather dire. Lumley's bad wig was a particular low point.

It was completely rubbish. I love Jonathan Creek, but last night's episode didn't even make sense. How did the baddie police know about the secret room behind the picture? And why did the daughter fake the whole thing with the body rather than just calling the police when her father's death was obviously an accident?

Really poor quality compared to the old episodes.

well, I liked it - always a sucker for Jonathan Creek, and the plots are always ridiculous, so I don't mind [blush}

My favourite JC's were the episodes where the girl was tied up when her older lover was shot [she was the shooter] and the one where the bloke pretended to kill himself by throwing himself off the balcony and the blind soul singer who wasn't really blind! Grin the housemate mate did it!
