I selected and paid for her to have a nice gift delivered yesterday. Sadly, due to tragic brain fail, I had it delivered to myself (200 miles away). I have made a couple of apologetic phone calls and seem to have entertained her at least. She got my card Blush

The sad thing is, my brother is so hopeless that the bar is set very low in this family for being the attentive one, so I still seem to be the 'one who remembered'.

I popped over for a cup of tea, took present and card. Spent a couple of hours chatting with dm,dd and db while the dc played.

Card and meal last night. Took wine and food over. Laughed ourselves silly and called her today.

Yes, YABU to start it here as you are not asking if you are being unreasonable.

I sent flowers and wine and a card, which all arrived yesterday. Mum is working today.

Went round for breakfast and lunch. Took presents and cards. Dsis has invited her over for a roast dinner later and will pick her up. The real present was yesterday when I cleaned for her, including the bottom of the cooker.

Absolutely nothing. Smile

Sent my MIL a lovely card which made her cry (apparently) and I'm taking her out for dinner next week.

Card, flowers and book.

Flowers, new shoes and baked her a cake!

Report
Startail · 10/03/2013 13:10

Sent her some flowers (yesterday as I'm a cheapskate and refused to pay £3 extra. Also Mum lives in darkest Wales, I strongly suspect she would get the same flowers a day older, I can't see there being weekend deliveries).

Will now set an alarm to ring her this evening.

Went to church this morning, so DH will have remembered his DM (for whom church was very important) in his own quiet way.

Flowers that I'm not sure she got, but I did drive 300 miles to see her and take her out for dinner with DB and then drive the 300 miles back the next day, so I'm hoping that makes up for it! I haven't seen her since her birthday, summer last year.

No phone call,OP, just a text??

CocacolaMum · 10/03/2013 13:22

That's right diddl and tbh given the recent history of the past few months (a portion of which is that I am 99% sure that she stole money from my son at my home) trust me when I say that she is very fortunate to have received that..

Saw my Mum yesterday, we had a cream tea at lunchtime.
I gave her a card, a silver bangle, some flowers and a cupcake I made in a presentation box.
MIL recieved a card, flowers and a cup cake in a presentation card which I brought on Husbands behalf, He gave her some money.

He (husband) couldnt be bothered to take our boys (11 & 14) out last weekend, He gave them £40 bettween them yesterday and they brought me a £2 flower 'pot' each, whilst shopping in Tesco, No card from either of them.
And yes I know its the thought that counts, but if I hadnt of taken them I prob'ley wouldnt have got anything.

OK-that's me told!

I guess if I didn't think that my Mum deserved a phone call then I wouldn't bother at all.

We went over to my mums for lunch and took cards and gifts and SHE crept into my house at 6am to drop off the basket of flowers for my DD to give to me (single parent).
She really is great!

CocacolaMum · 10/03/2013 13:28

lol sorry that did sound a little bit short x I would probably have called but she NEVER picks up her phone so didn't see the point. At least with a text I knew she would get it.
