No, you can't check everywhere...MN has too many topics for a start Grin

But it's good that people are actively doing something about it on that thread.

It's bloody shocking.

Fucking hell!! Shock

I haven't read the other thread, but how on earth did that get through the people who filter Amazon??

Scary that someone's thinking is so distorted they can't see how wrong it is.

Report
ChipTheFish · 02/03/2013 00:14

Agentzigzig I don't think they have a filter. If you type 'rape' into the search bar on Amazon, they actually sell loads of unsavory items. I was live chatting with customer services earlier and the only thing they don't allow is counterfeit items. Everything else is up to the seller apparently...

The more threads the better, frankly.

The more MNers who are disgusted, across the Boards, the better.

Liking the flash reviews - assuming they are from mnetters

Chip - I was thinking there must be people working for Amazon who trawl the site looking for shit like this, Amazon relies on its reputation as a high quality shopping site, there's no way they want to be thought of as peddlers of such offensive items.

AgentZigzag · 02/03/2013 01:02

FFS, they don't even need to pay people to do it, a computer program would pick this kind of bollocks up.

IneedAsockamnesty · 02/03/2013 01:32

Over 200 reviews in a couple of hours, and its just gone up on the fail online site.
The seller has removed his fb page after saying it was a computer error.and amazon live customer support and CEO have been bombarded.

I've had jolly good fun writing reviews and emailing them same as loads of other mners have

Yamyoid · 02/03/2013 05:53

It seems to have gone from Amazon now, thank goodness. Shocking and worrying.

OhDearieDearieMe · 02/03/2013 07:53

Can someone tell me what it was please?

Report
OrangeLily · 02/03/2013 07:57

If you look at his other items you will also find 'kill her' and 'maul her'. They've only removed the rape tshirts.

Read the the other thread and search twitter you'll find a lot of mumsnetters there!

Report
Blatherskite · 02/03/2013 08:00

There are at least 2 other threads.

The rape ones seem to be going. We need them to get rid of the kill her/maul her ones now

A mistake?

But a statement on the Solid Gold Bomb website insisted the offensive slogans had been "automatically generated using a scripted computer process running against hundreds of thousands of dictionary words".

Really? No checking? The person putting it on the website was blind?

Report
Beaverfeaver · 02/03/2013 09:56

How could it be a mistake?! Thank god they have pulled them.

However, the cynic in me believes its all for publicity, which they have got a lot if now.

(Not Amazon, but Solid Gold Bomb)

It's in extremely bad taste, but it's only a joke. Rape isn't something that normal people do with a little encouragement. No nice man is going to turn into a rapist because he sees a silly t-shirt slogan.

Report
Beaverfeaver · 02/03/2013 10:03

I am usually one who defends companies or people when jokes backfire like this,
But rape is something never to be joked about in my opinion.

It's close to my heart and ruins lives.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff

Actually lots of 'nice men' sexually assault women and girls, many of whom are known to them.

And those who have been sexually assaulted often don't think it's something that is 'only a joke' or their experiences deserving of trivialisation.

A silly t-shirt slogan which depicts rape as something to be laughed at. Oh how we all laughed Confused

Report
MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 02/03/2013 15:57

If these were accidentally generated, then surely there would be the equivalent slogans but with him instead of her.
Why am I ninety five percent sure that this is not the case?
