AIBU?

Slightly scented tampons - what fresh hell is this?

I was in Tesco yesterday buying tampons. I normally get the Tesco own-brand non-applicator ones, because applicators are just more environmentally unfriendly unflushable septic tank destroying crap. Annoyingly, however, Tesco were out of any non-applicator tampons in anything other than super-plus plus. After some deliberation, ruling out Tampax Pearl because of the infuriating adverts, I picked up Tampax Compak Fresh, because I couldn't see any difference between them and the unfresh ones. Not until I opened the box this morning did I clock the 'slightly scented' bit. Readers, I feel sullied.

AIBU to think that slightly scented tampons are the most ridiculous idea ever?

Reminds me of my mum getting TSS (toxic shock syndrome) in the seventies from using tampons. I don't think they constructed them very well back then. And this sounds like an innovation too far.

Thanks to her (possibly over dramatic) warnings I have never used one in my life!

Oh dear, that is ridiculous. Making girls feel even dirtier, playing on insecurities. I won't be sticking one of those anywhere near me!

I accidentally bought the 'Slightly scented' Pads, Unfortunately these were my only option.

TMI but after using one I came out it a horrendous rash that left me itching for weeks.

It's ridiculous, The smell is so strong that I could smell it through my clothes. Nothing screams 'Im on my period and I would smell if I didn't wear this even though it makes me smell like Febreze!'

Oh God, I hope I don't get a rash in my unmentionables! Itching just thinking about it.

Arf at Twinkle Twat!

This might be the time to invest in a mooncup. Maybe. Not sure about the washing it out part!

You know what? I hate them for the same reason I hate scented baby wipes. I don't want to smell a cheap flowery fragrance when I'm on the shitter. I'll get vivid smell association every time I open the packet.

And it's never a nice cheap flowery smell. It's always some rank bargain bin style perfume that I wouldn't have been smelled dead in even at age thirteen.

Who does the market research for these things i'd like to know?

What group of women sat around a table and told the marketing people 'hmm, yes, on the whole i would choose a tampon that made my fanny smell like a flower over a plain one'.

FGS
