I am 23..

I am twenty fucking three.

I AM TWENTY-FUCKING-THREE AND BEING EYE-ROLLED BY MY TWENTY-YEAR-OLD SISTER-IN-LAW BECAUSE I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHO HALF OF THESE PEOPLE ARE.

Seriously, who are "The XX"? Are they "The Double-X"? Are they "The Ex-Ex"? Are they "The Two-Ex's"?!?! And Ben Howard?! WHO?! I thought he was the comedian off Mock the Week! And who on earth was that idiot 90's bloke who was nominated for the award Ben Howard one, because honestly - the Gallagher Brothers should sue him for blatant imitation. Couldn't sound more Oasis if he tried.

I'm not being unreasonable, am I?! Unless it's for "Breakthrough Artist" or "Up and Coming", unless people like me have heard of you, you shouldn't even be nominated. And just because I have no fuckign idea who these people are, does not mean I need to be put out to pasture. Right?! RIGHT?!?!

Don't you have a radio?!?
I'm 37 and have heard of all of these and have some of their albums. It's the Brits - probably the most commercialised awards after the smash hits party (which you also won't have heard of coz you're too young) Grin

Blimey! You're really angry about this, aren't you?
I have no idea if you are U or not, though.

My 8 yr old DS insists on having Radio One on in the car when we are out and about. He then sings along to whatever is on the radio. I have NO idea who the artists are or what they are singing - DS knows all the words.

YANBU for not knowing who is who at the Brits, but you are being VU for being EXACTLY HALF MY BLOODY AGE!

I listen to Radio One on occasion - that's my point! I try and make the effort to keep "in wiv da yoof of toodaii" or however the young ones say it now, but I still have no bleeding clue.

I give up. I bloody well give up lol.

I really like the XX (20 in Roman numerals)
I'm 37! I know stuff about music though!

MagratOfStolat · 20/02/2013 21:21

Well I know all the "important" people like Rihanna and Olly Murs and One Direction and all sorts, and I love Mumford and Sons, but some of these bands are a bit Hmm

And Catus - I'm irritated. Mildly. Simply because I'm being made to feel like I'm a hundred years old by a stupid TV show Grin

The XX won the mercury prize a couple of years ago. I despise popular music and even I know that.

Anything involving James Corden and Muse on the same stage is worth avoiding.

Once upon a time I used to love Muse... now I don't.

MagratOfStolat · 20/02/2013 21:26

I love Muse... have loved them for years!

I'll just have to bone up on all these artists. Only trouble is, next year it's going to repeat itself!

I'm assuming all of the older people have teenagers who rave about this stuff? Correct me if I'm wrong though!

I don't think my 18-month-old is going to start spouting about how good Jessie Ware is!
