I am turning into a grumpy old lady.

Went on a big day out to a huge fun pool. Flumes, lazy rivers, wave pools, bubble pools, you know the type of place. Not somewhere you go to actually swim, just bob about and girl down the slides. A total kid place, although obviously you do get people without kids going but the vast majority of the people there are either with kids or kids themselves.

Just after we got in I spotted this couple sitting in the shallow end under a mink waterfall snogging and cuddling, him sitting on her knee. I was a bit meh but a bit, oh come on but never thought anything of it. I'm no pearl clutcher. A bit later we were floating round the lazy river and they're there again, her with her legs wrapped around his waist, kissing away. Then they were in the bubble pool, her on top all over each other. I seen them another couple of times doing the same sort of thing. No kids with them, about mid twenties so not just hormonal teens. Then I saw him carrying her through the wave pool and they sat in the shallow end all over each other again.

We were walking out on our way to the flames, I caught her eye and seized the opportunity to say 'you two need to get a room, that's gross'. They then got out and left to have a shag in the changing rooms no doubt

This was over a period of 2 hours. So, wibu?

I dunno really. I think it's weird but not sure I'd say anything. I always think these massive displays of affection are for the onlookers and not the couple. When I first met dh we used to shag each other senseless but I never snogged in public. Didn't need to really.

yanbu but they wouldn't be being unreasonable to be taking the loss out of you all the way back to the changing rooms where they had lots of sex

DP thinks yes (sex on the brain?)

I say buckets and cold water were invented for this type of thing. [Smooths down twinset & polishes pearls]

|I dont like seeing people maulling each other half dressed on a hot summer day on the hight street. I'd have suggested a bucket of cold water but I doubt it would have helped in the circumstances

Fuck me it was a water park...how's a bucket of water going to make a difference? Grin

I think if it had been in a pool on holiday, or even a swingers club, then fine, grope away. But a fun pool full of kids?

I'm sure the signs by the pool used to go along the lines of no spitting, bombing, heavy petting, peeing etc!

YANBU.

They used to have <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=i23.photobucket.com/albums/b389/robstanley1/Swimming.jpg&imgrefurl=forums.doyouremember.co.uk/threads/1166-Swimming-pool-poster-no-heavy-petting&h=430&w=430&sz=26&tbnid=iLAx8E2q-mgPgM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__sdv_xG4nzOL0xvQTfgDAhgQyMtw=&docid=TycndufUAM-OSM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=K9MWUfm7HvO10QX5nIHACA&ved=0CEoQ9QEwAQ&dur=1846" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">these posters in pools - our local one had been closed for several years before I actually knew what it meant!

BTW, I'm not so bothered about the kids as I'm sure it passed them by (well, maybe not teens!) but to me it's minging just thinking about the...secretions. Ew.

Her legs wrapped round him? You know they were probably at it, don't you? Grin right there in the pool. he slips it in and then just carries her round the pool...

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2013 22:56

I agree with Hecate

That's exactly why he carried her through the wave pool...the lazy bastard Grin

I would have drawn their attention to the no heavy petting sign if they still have such a thing!

I quite like the idea of a secret shag in a bubble pool.... Not surrounded by kids but in a pool full of pearl clutches on their way to the flames sounds both exciting and fulfilling Grin

On their side, totally.

Especially since they contrived to annoy a bunch of mummies.

If I had young kids in this situation I would have go them to go and fart right next to them and look at them intently, making them feel horribly self-conscious.

MrsKeithRichards · 10/02/2013 07:41

I don't know if they did annoy a bunch of mummies, certainly dh and I noticed them several times and though ' oh come on, there's a better time and place for it rather than in a packed kids pool on a Saturday afternoon', I don't think there was a gang of annoyed mummies around.

'a bunch of mummies'? A wee bit patronising/condescending? I'm not sure that all mummies actually wear their twinsets and pearls in the pool itself.

YANBU it's a bit gross, a while ago I was at the pool and there was a couple snogging and grinding up against each other, the lifeguards were looking at them like Hmm but I don't think they got kicked out although they deserved to.

I believe that in this country it is generally not acceptable to have sex in public.

best thing is to ask the lifeguard to deal with it, that's their job.

YANBU to say 'Get a room' with rolly eyes and a fond smile of how you used to be (or would have liked to have been) and their behaviour does sound over the top, a lifeguard SHOULD have asked them politely to cool it.

YABVU to have referred to their behaviour as gross... they weren't actually mixing body fluids, they were simply being over the top.

I'm not sure if it's the body contact, or the kissing that bothers you? If the body contact, YABU... unless they were grinding and shrieking and he donned a snorkle and went down on her. (Although not sure it would work)

This seems a bit rude to me, to be honest. It's obviously not very appropriate behaviour on their part, but you could have said something a bit nicer/more polite to them, or asked one of the lifeguards if you didn't like it.

YANBU.

And any adult who gets off on sexual activity in front of a bunch of kids either has no boundaries or is a perv.
