....to be even more irritated by the fact that the person who was just saying it was my Health Visitor?!

I have never met her, managed to dodge that bullet for 2 years grin But on the phone she says this and REALLY annoys me!

I am probably BU but it really winds me up!

Ooh and 'vica versa' too.

Savannahgirl Fri 25-Jan-13 20:48:43

Hearing people say "should of" instead of "should have" - really makes my teeth itch confused!

hamiltondog Fri 25-Jan-13 20:49:33

What about adding 'like' into every sentence???

Barabajagal Fri 25-Jan-13 20:53:34

Mockingcurl Fri 25-Jan-13 20:57:24

My bugbear is " my bad" and "a big ask". Makes me just want to hit them.

My 70 year old uncle made me cringe when he kept asking my DC if they liked "pittsa". He meant "pizza" of course, but the DC were totally flummoxedgrin

Gottalovecosta Fri 25-Jan-13 21:01:56

nods lickle, bokkle, hospikle - all set my teeth on edge. Hate it!

Savannahgirl Fri 25-Jan-13 21:04:07

'hollibobs' makes me want to kill the person
Also 'brufin' instead of ibuprofen - wtaf?
And saying 'are you going the gym' for example instead of going TO a place..
I know these sort of threads get done a lot but I do like them smile

Flisspaps Fri 25-Jan-13 21:26:08

MrsBW Fri 25-Jan-13 21:26:46

PickledInAPearTree Fri 25-Jan-13 21:27:40

I knew hollibobs would rear its ugly head.

A continuity announcer has just informed me I am watching dramar on four. A continuity announcer FFS! It makes one year for the days of Auntie Beeb and gels in pearls.

Alc-O-wol for alcohol - make me reach for wine.

Brufin in the generic name for ibuprofen

Brufen is a brand name for ibuprofen and the name it was first marketed under in this country (and is prescription only) - Ibuprofen is the generic name.

Bottom line is anyone who comes out with likkle etc is v ignorant. So obv if a health visitor etc then probably ignorable. Harsh but not unreasonable. <flaming ahoy>

ImperialBlether Fri 25-Jan-13 22:16:25

I had a phone conversation once with someone I'd met online.

He said 'lickle' at one point and all I could think was how quickly I could get off the phone.

Then he said 'bickie' (couldn't shut him up) and I was clenching everything.

Then he said, "You make me chuckle" and I slammed the phone down.

Bogeyface Sat 26-Jan-13 02:19:19

I knew the Brufen one, its the name that medical staff use.

But what the buggerybollocks is Holibobs?! I have no idea what that is and cant guess either!

alcon so I AINBU to think worse of her for saying it? Assuming that she isnt using Patois, which I know and is quite hard to understand if you dont know it.

Bogeyface Sat 26-Jan-13 02:22:33

Google tells me that it may mean Holiday. "Best Holibobs ever" according to Trip Advisor.

Also holibags
And typing nom nom nom - just so annoying, and whoop whoop - makes me irrationally irritated, you wouldn't say this in RL if you were excited!

Ugh when I was on the postnatal ward DP pointed out that 2 of the other mums said bokkle. He then fucked off home and I had to spend the next 2 days getting more and more irrationally angry listening to it!

FriendofDorothy Sat 26-Jan-13 03:07:23

Lil. I hate it. On FB my brother-in-law's idiot sister uses it all the time as in 'having coffee with my lil man'. I hate it. I want to batter her.
