Christmas Cards - what do they say about you ??

..sent my DP out to buy Christmas cards with the words - "something modern" - as all the ones we had lurking around in the box were pretty dated and staid......

He came back with loads which are almost identical to the ones I that refuse to send (albeit they were Charity ones) - I hate them and don't want to send them out..

Can I just bin them all and buy something more modern - seeing as I get to write them and address the envelopes etc - but he get to pay the postage..

What do you think and am I being petty ?

I think that if you really care about the picture on the front, then you should go and buy them yourself.

Different people have different ideas about what kind of card looks good (or modern).

And jinglebelly's right that the message inside is the important bit.

I'd think "oh they must care about charity that's nice". My friend sent me one today, can't remember the picture but the card was a morrisons charity I thought it was nice of her tbh

I always send out charity cards. But they have to pass my aesthetic appeal test as well. I never go for anything too religious, or anything with a cheesy poem, or anything with glitter. That's about all my criteria really!

Mine say I'm lazy as I haven't sent any for years.

This year, I might send an online one. But probably not.

Whatever the picture on the front they say 'you have more time than me'. I find myself running round like a blue arsed fly at this time of year trying to get everything bought/done for Christmas and cards is one of the (many) things I think, 'yeah...they can be skipped entirely'.

I wouldn't let someone else buy my cards for me for precisely this reason; my personal tastes are probably not the same as theirs! However now that they've been bought I'd probably use them and buy some pretty ones in the sales ready for next year.

Mine say that I have too much time on my hands and that my kids will be spending a lot of money on therapy in the future. Pictures of DSs dressed in Christmas theme, they are both under three and in between catching things coming out of their orrifices I need something to amuse myself.

My xmas cards say that I remembered with fondness or love the person I am sending it to. Quite frankly I don't give a monkeys if they're modern, classic, cubist etc etc, I just do it.

Anyone who judges me on the picture on the card or type of card itself is an arse of the highest order.

I don't think the picture matters tbh - but if you're that bothered, perhaps you might have bought them yourself! lol I love sending cards out, I don't care if the person sends one back or not, I like to think it says "I thought about you, you're my friend and I care enough to spend a bit of time thinking about us at Christmas." You can go vomit in a sick-bucket now.
