Ok is it just me that finds it completely irritating to see to see posters to include [sigh] in their posts.

It reminds me of a petulant child

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 19:56:18

I don't sigh when I'm angry or annoyed I just swear I sigh when I've given up and cba any more.

Which is very rare. wink think dog with bone

Gentleness - sometimes it sounds like it goes along with the [eyeroll]

Gentleness Mon 26-Nov-12 18:26:17

Hmm - I thought [sigh] meant more weary and resigned than anything else. As in: Heartburn kicking in again and toddler spilled drink over sofa. Sigh.

treas Mon 26-Nov-12 17:50:13

StandYourGround - No! Far too Anne Robinson

ffs always sounds very end of tethery and angry.

Haven't noticed many <sighs>

I have yet to use a <head tilt>

I'm saving it for a speshul moment... <stabby>

Unashamed suckup

<licks pag's face> [sigh]

treas Mon 26-Nov-12 17:32:29

BumpingFuglies - your verging on the [nahnahnahnahnah]

JamieandtheMagicTorch - [suckup] grin

Pagwatch Mon 26-Nov-12 17:09:48

It's alright Jamie. I know I would never sigh or FFS at you grin

I am usually very polite. We just all have our limits <twitches>

I love the detail that so many posters go to here to let you know the tone of their post. I use extra detail so people know if I am joking or not.

Therefore my ruling is that YOU ARE BEING UNREASONABLE
wink

ScrambledSmegs Mon 26-Nov-12 16:16:15

I'm doing a lot of <sighs> at the moment. I'm 5 days overdue, can't walk very well and have a 2.8yo to cope with. Just be glad I'm limiting myself to <sigh>

You wanna make something of that?

<stabby>

JamieandtheMagicTorch Mon 26-Nov-12 16:08:23

Pag

that was not directed at you, BTW. The people you say it to always deserve it

JamieandtheMagicTorch Mon 26-Nov-12 16:05:45

I say FFS a lot in RL, but somehow I wouldn't say it on here, and I hate being the recipient of it on here

Sigh is more passive-aggressive, which I find kind of amusing if directed at me. Years of experience of it from my mum I suppose

GinAndSlimlinePlease Mon 26-Nov-12 14:06:06

I quite like a good sigh, says far more than a bunch of words sometime

<sighs> at myself

<scuttles off> to be childish in RL.

But seriously, do we have to be so grown up we can't sigh occasionally?

BumpingFuglies Mon 26-Nov-12 13:58:23

<retrieves raspberry and blows>
Definitely need a [fucksake] emoticon grin

Pagwatch Mon 26-Nov-12 13:26:33

grin
Then it works takataka.
I would use it more if I thought it would make people fuck off

psychomum5 Mon 26-Nov-12 13:24:47

really, this is still going on.

<sigh>

how tedious and boring.

grin

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 26-Nov-12 13:20:55

Actual lolz at walking menopausal asbo grin

Yep [sigh] is fecking irritating but sometimes that's intention!

Definitely all depends on context.

takataka Mon 26-Nov-12 13:11:28

pag Im rude...maybe I mean its too superior/underhand...if you have a point then make it. Dont sigh at me. In fact [sigh] is pretty much end of discussion as far as i am concerned...it blatantly says the person is not listening/ taking your POV seriously

Mrsjay Mon 26-Nov-12 13:11:16

I * <sigh> <shrug> and <rolleyes> every other post bet you hate me grin

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 13:09:57

takataka you are a saint. < puts hand in prayer symbol > wink

Pagwatch Mon 26-Nov-12 13:09:18

I sigh in RL too. I say 'oh for fucks sake' occasionally. I am like a walking menopausal asbo.

Pagwatch Mon 26-Nov-12 13:08:22

Are we supposed to never be rude on here then?

No one told me [sigh]

takataka Mon 26-Nov-12 13:06:43

grin everlong I get MN angry, not so angry probably...it makes me go GRRRR..then I forget about it...

Hmmm....I dont think I express exasperation. I think it is rude to do so. It is expressing that the reason the person you are talking to doesnt agree with you, is because they dont understand you....

I make an art form out of sighing. LOUDLY

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 13:02:49

Really takata? You'd get so angry over a <sigh>?

How do you express yourself when you are exasperated?
