Ok is it just me that finds it completely irritating to see to see posters to include [sigh] in their posts.

It reminds me of a petulant child

wigglesrock Mon 26-Nov-12 11:43:46

I use [shrugs] a lot, usually to mean I don't really give a shite but would quite like to have an opinion.

Maryz Mon 26-Nov-12 11:44:39

I do it when I want to say "fuck off you loon, I've tried being polite but you just aren't listening " [sigh].

It is a very specific meaning for me.

I would be happy with a [grumpy], so I have one in my dangly-bit hovererererererer.

Maryz Mon 26-Nov-12 11:45:46

And there is nothing wrong with [gavel] MrsMushroom shock. I use [gavel] a lot, but that's because I'm always right.

[gavel]

[snurk]

<wanders off, sniggering childishly>

TigerFeet Mon 26-Nov-12 11:47:50

I disagree OP

It can be so wonderfully passive agressive

I luffs* a bit of passive aggression, me

But it isn't as good as a well placed smile

smile <- like that

*see what I did there?

LadyBeagle Mon 26-Nov-12 11:59:31

I used it like I would in RL.
Eg...cute kittens post.
I so want a kitten
<sigh>
^Like that.smile

Worra gringrin

valiumredhead Mon 26-Nov-12 12:08:07

Oh I often include a sigh or a shrug - helps get my point across grin

And sometimes I even include a LOL or a xxx.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:10:58

You're kidding me.
I love a good <siiiiggghhhhh>

valiumredhead Mon 26-Nov-12 12:12:47

I love a good shrug

<shrug>

MrsMushroom - I always read cnuts as C-Nuts, so I think of cashews. grin

JamieandtheMagicTorch Mon 26-Nov-12 12:15:54

i hate FFS and hmm

so rude

which is obvs the intention

Pagwatch Mon 26-Nov-12 12:17:20

I use [sigh] and [shrug]

It is quicker than typing 'I have already posted this twice and in language a toddler with headphones on and his eyes shut would understand but you are either fucking thick or out for a fight so I will try just once more. A bit grudgingly' and 'it's alright. It doesn't matter that much'

Or sometimes I am just posting about personal stuff and feeling fatigued or trying to brush off a glum post.

So context matters really.

DialsMavis Mon 26-Nov-12 12:18:10

My SIL <sighs> on FB all the time... She is both condescending and P.A.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:18:28

JamieandtheMagicTorch Mon 26-Nov-12 12:26:44

Everlong

Totally agree there.I don't know why FFS gets to me. Gawd knows, I think it.
Perhaps replace with OFCOL wink?

::tilts::

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:31:53

OFCOL?

No idea grin oh fucking come on loser?

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:33:24

Just googled.

My mind is warped grin

Tut!

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:38:27

<shoves exit>

<falls over>

<cries>

<reports Everlong>

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:39:56

Actually my acronym would be quite fitting on here wink

O.F.C.O.L.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Mon 26-Nov-12 12:55:42

No, no "fucking" or "loser" in OFCOL. Much less aggressive

<Oh For Crying Out Loud>

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin Mon 26-Nov-12 12:57:50

Sorry Jamie blush

I am not usually aggressive wink well not very often
