I have one friend (who I love dearly) who uses the full shebang. Her new daughter is her 'ickle bubs', her son who is the same age as my DD is her "ickle prince/man" and once put a request to some friends on her fb page ending in "pwetty pwease". Seriously, she's a lovely woman but I had to hide her updates on fb in the end as I am far too fond of her to read the shite she puts there!

YES YES! My DM died of cancer aged 52. The word 'battle' or 'won the fight against cancer' annoys me. Mum died because they discovered the cancer too late. She didn't just give up and not bother to 'fight'. I nursed my mum at home while she died a painful horrible death from cancer.

I use baba to my daughter (teenager) it's Irish for baby - sorry if spelled wrong to anyone who knows. I think it's one of those words that have travelled the world and show we all started off speaking the same language (half heard programme on R4). But agree it's for home use only and said with irony to anyone over six
