Why do some drivers think its ok, to stop and sit there waiting and holding up all the traffic til the lights turn red again just because they are in the wrong lane?
AIBU to think if u get in the wrong lane and u can't immediately get out of it, u should commit to it and find somewhere to turn round where u aren't in everyone's way?

Sorry I wasnt the one not letting them back in, I was the one stuck behind, and those lights take ages to go green again! If I was in the wrong lane, I'd try and swap, but if I couldn't I'd keep moving til I could safely pull up and turn round, not hold everyone up!
Besides, I'm convinced this guy was just trying to jump the que anyway, as I was in the turn right lane and he had bypassed about a dozen cars.

Completely agree with you OP. Why can't people who are lost just get on with it and find a suitable place to turn around and get their bearings.

We've all done it, got in the wrong lane and panicked. The difference is that some of us just manage to sort ourselves out and others hold up the traffic / cut other drivers up / and generally faff around until they're where they want to be angry

Didn't there used to be something in the Talk Guidelines about textspeak?
Or was it all a beautiful dream?

YOU ABU.

there's a stretch of road on the A23 where I ALWAYS bloody get in the wrong lane. it's not until it's too late that you realise the lane becomes a right hand filter.. a lot of roads are like that.

I had a couple come to a sudden stop on a roundabout and had to emergency brake to avoid a collision. I did beep. Then when we drew level at the next lights the woman in the passenger seat was shouting "haven't you ever been lost" to which I explained that yes but you tend to pull over at a safe place rather than stopping dead in the road!

YANBU...exactly. There's a road near where I live where the left lane has to turn left and the right hand lane goes straight on. Lots of people try and cut in there. Invariably I don't let them in because the road markings are really clear.

Other places I will let people in though. except the wankers who are obviously only in the wrong lane to try and get ahead of the queue

I think if you're obstructing someone/dangerous - then you should just carry on. However if you need to change lanes in normal circumstances, I think people should be courteous and let you in.

YABU. Although I would just keep going and get hopelessly losth, shouldn't need to.
Agree with everyone else who said other people should just let them in.

The other day I was driving into town and saw someone accidently go into the bus lane (it suddenly changes, and if you don't know the area can be a surprise) they were indicating to try and get out and no bugger would let them over (I did) <polishes halo>

Some people are just rude.

Actually, I think you may be reasonable. I can understand what everyone else says about someone being lost in a strange city, but I see the same bloody cars doing this every day, ooh I'll just drive up the turn right lane and indicate left and sit there blocking the turning traffic because I'm far better than these mugs who are waiting patiently in the straight on lane.

What's even more annoying is when you're trying to change lane, you finally get a gap and start to move over and some bastard deliberately speeds up and closes the gap. I mean, what is going through their heads when they do that??
