To sack our Jubilee Big Lunch in this horrendous weather

In brief, two eight year old boys. all excited about the lunch party on the school field, and I feel about as excited as a wet sack about the prospect of sitting in the rain for four hours. My 'blitz spirit' is in pretty short supply this morning!

We had our street party yesterday and are going to another one tomorrow. It has been raining all night here (near Windsor) and is still drizzeling now. I wouldn't fancy being in a field today but I reckon your boys will love it!

Good move to have it either side of Sunday. I am sure you're right about my boys. Just need to work on my enthusiasm!

We've just finished tree planting in the village in the pouring rain... I was dreading it, but ate cake and rather enjoyed surrendering to the weather and joining the kids in jumping in puddles.

Have you got a gazebo?

Take a flask of tea or soup or whiskey and warm clothes and wellies and you'll be fine.

Gazebos were borderline useless as the water poured through them. Lucky I'm not style conscious type ha ha - looked like I had been dragged through a hedge by the time we came back!

Just managed to convince my DCs and a friend to stop standing about in the rain and come home, Coffee hopefully is brewing.
