The handle on our Banham lock broke (it made me realise the handle part of the lock is actually quite flimsy despite hefty price tag) so they sent an engineer to come and fix it at lunchtime yesterday, charging me £85 for ten minutes' work.

When I next came to use the door to get back into my house at 5.45 last night with my 18 month old twins, in pouring rain of course, I found I was locked out as the lock mechanism had jammed.

We all had to seek refuge with a neighbour and her family, meaning that not only was my boys' teatime / bathtime / bedtime all put on hold, her boys had to stay up too and all 4 boys got more and more loopy as time wore on. She was a saint, I felt increasingly dreadful as my chaps trashed the place and her boys asked when we were all going home Blush

Banham engineer showed up at 7.30 and were so rude that my neighbour was shocked. He shouted through that we could come in now at 8p.m. and then tutted when I asked him to move his tools so I could heave the buggy full of screaming boys into my own home. He shouted up the stairs that he was leaving my keys in the hallway and scarpered.

I think they should apologise for poor workmanship and terrible service, refund the £85 and ideally cover the cost of sending my neighbour some flowers. They reckon that none of this is necessary as "we have fixed the faulty lock now".

Ahh it helped to share that, sorry it was such a boring whingey post. Just tell me before I bother complaining again to them.. AIBU??

Definitely complain. I think they should refund you for the repair and apologise for the poor workmanship, rude engineer and your inconvenience. Flowers for neighbour - not so sure you can expect that tbh. I would just give her some yourself.
