A few scenarios for you to give your opinions on......(these are all actual things that have happened and the reasons given to me behind them)

8yr old girl has a swimming lesson. Mum and Dad are too hungover to get up and take her,so she says "Fine I don't need you I'll take myself" and off she went, when she came back mum and dad were still in bed.

Now, I think this is not right and is quite sad tbh!

13yr old girl is allowed out by mum and dad, but they are not 100% happy with her going out. She returns home so drunk she passes out on the floor of the bathroom after vomitting for 45 minutes and is left there until morning.

I think this is not on either, if you are not happy with your child going out then don't let them.

13yr old girl returns home after another night out drunk again, 2 days later letter from police arrives saying she has been caught underage drinking.

This is where it would stop for me tbh!

14yr old girl has b'f so mum and dad let them have sex in their home. Reason behind it? "Well every 13yr old upwards wants to have sex, better in my own home than me not knowing"

I think this is irresponsible tbh...I know some may disagree.

There were other things but too may tbh to list. Just wondered what fellow MNetters thought.

Very very sad - wouldn't happen in my house - in fact is hasn't happened as both my DDs are older than 13!

Bobs, I did tell the "friend" that I found it very sad. She said it was fine as her kids had all survived Sad

So they're all in one family. Ok so they've survived so far - but what about later? An if she's a "friend" and mixes with your kids, what are they going to learn? Distance yourslef? Report to social services if things get worse? (Though the underage drinking is the only illegal thing thing on so far)
Oh - and you can tell her from me that not every 13 yr old wants to have sex - mine has just had her first bf and it only went as far as kissing..so there!!! I'd call it promiscuity personally Shock

Oh god, I hope it isn't all reasonable. My dd is only 7 but all of that would be unreasonable. Take control, they do not rule you.

They are all adults now and flit from man to man, drink heavily, and one by one are going to the NHS dr's for surgery...makes me sick tbh especially as this woman is the one who criticises me!

ooppss always press send too soon.

On top of everything she thinks the whole family are better than "London" because they only ever visit the place.Hmm

I know I have problems with my eldest (getting dx soon!!) but there is no way I would allow these things to go on. She thinks I am BU by not letting him do his own thing at 12!!!

"Better than London"? "dx"? "BU"? I must be out of touch as I only go on MN in fits and starts Blush
People in glass houses.....She's probabply having a go at you to make herself feel better about her own family - don't rise to it, just know you've done the best you can with you own kids!!!
