AIBU?

To think dd's new school bag should arrive by the start of school

I ordered it at the end of June (cheque arrived start of July). I phoned today to find out where it was and they are still awaiting stock from the manufacturer.

Estimated arrival date end of September.

So now I either have to go out and buy a non regulation bag just to use this month or send dd in with a carrier bag. The schoolbag she used last year was thrown away at the start of the holidays as the straps had broken.

Do you not have any other bags that she can use? Reusable shopping bags for instance?

so is it a special regulation bag ordereed through the school?

all the school suppliers will be working flat out but thats no excuse, our school order stuff mid year and ther is never any problem with stock/supply IME

they can't complain about a her using a carrier bag if you have ordered and are waitng!

We have lots of bags for life with the name of our business on :) However I'm not sure they will keep everything safe. They are supposed to take backpacks.

Yes, special regulation bag ordered through school but the school changed its name last year so last September when dd needed one for the first time none were sold and we were all told to get plain black backpacks instead.

The bag I have ordered has the new school name on and is via a new supplier for the first time. I guess most people will just carry on using their old bags until the new ones come - just dd's broke.

Asda has some backpacks that are pretty cheap - that might tide her over. But I don't think you are being unreasonable to be frustrated - these companies must know that there is going to be a spike in demand over the summer, and should be prepared for it.
