Jason, it's lovely you are looking forward to it.

I used to.

Now it's too hard.

Will deal with it when it happens, but August is just too soon to face it.

I hope you have a lovely time....

I'm going to hide this thread (7th Christmas one today :( )

I love autumn and winter. It means I can wear big cosy coats and jumpers to hide my arse

I love autumn and winter as well, it's my favourite part of the year coming up. My birthday in a couple of weeks (not my favourite!) but once that's over we seem to speed up till Halloween and before you know it you're eating mince pies. Love it :)

I love Autumn too. I am delighted to be wearing cardigans, and it somehow smells autumnal outside already (even though it is still August). Bumper crop of blackberries are all being turned into jam, before long the apples will be ripe and it will be chutneys and crumbles.

You watch we'll have an Indian summer now! Grin

Autumn is my favourite time of year!
Am a real fan of cooking and there's nothing easier than whipping up some home-made soup and some blackberry and oat bars to warm up with.

I love fireworks and walking in the brisk air kicking leaves.

It feels autumnal already (well not today it didn't, but I hope that was a blip) and I love it!

p.s. have already started my christmas shopping too

I've never made a chutney or a crumble in my life. Tried a wild blackberry today and it was minging.
Kick through a pile of leaves round my way and you'll end up with the autumnal wiff of dog poo on your boots.
My house will be freezing.

Bah, humbug
(love Halloween though!)

I love Autumn and winter too and everyone looks at me as if i'm mad when i tell them.

As usual i think we will have our indian summer but as soon as it starts getting colder and darker out comes the xmas dvd's . I love watching father christmas and the snowman with the DC. The build up is always the best part.

Why do people who don't like Christmas keep clicking on Christmas threads to complain about them? Oh Come All Ye Faithful...

Why stop at Christmas - have you started preparing for Easter yet? Also, should get ahead with the spring cleaning while you can .....

I don't mind the Christmas cake preps but I do object to summer being over :( In the summer I am happy and energetic and achieve loads. In the winter I turn into an aching grumpy old eeyore. autumn is a journey towards winter. (but I do like any good old autumnal gales that blow up)

Also love autumn and winter. Just completely adore the cosiness of it all. I'm very much more suited to cold wintery walks all bundled up in warm clothes than doign anything on a hot summer day - it just makes me listless, whereas winter energises me. Like proper winter though, with cold and snow and frost.

Another Autumn/Winter lover here - 3 out of 4 of our birthdays are in the Autumn and I just love the feel in the air. There has definitely been an autumnal chill around (apart from yesterday).
That reminds me - need to dig out winter coats and put them in the washing machine.

Mmm - love those frosty days - can't wait to get the moonboots out!

Actually, I was feeling a bit down a couple of months ago (May? June?) and I said I wished it was Christmas, so my DH helped me put the tree up, poured me a Baileys and then we watched cheesy movies and ate chocs all evening - bliss!

Ugh: Autumn means GIANT SPIDERS running all over your/my house. But at least I can wear fat covering clothes happily (cannot do summer wardrobe)...

oh god yes, the spiders - but it's only for a short time. DH found a HUGE one last night - one of those "hello, you need to pay RENT" spiders!! Shock Thankfully, DH will usually be quick to remove the spider to the outside of the house - he knows if he leaves it to me there will be a huge blotch on the wall with spider legs strewn for about a foot in any direction. Grin

I love autumn and winter as well. I've already started browsing through Christmas crafts and humming Christmas songs...

The blackberries are just starting to ripen around here - they are my favourite bit of autumn - the dog and I go blackberrying together (though she hasn't grasped the idea that she's supposed to put them in the bag, so that I can freeze them for blackberry and apple crumble, and just strips them off the branches and eats them).

I love mulled wine and christmas carols, but tend to get a bit stressed in the run up to christmas - I ought to do what Jason is doing, and at least get started on the cake and pudding - if I was really organised, I'd make the pudding now and freeze it. Ho hum.

SDTG

YOU DONT FREEZE YOUR PUDDING
You soak the fruit in plenty of brandy and wrapp it up in an airtight container and then let it fester for a few months in a cool dark place
We did this last year and the pudding was the best I have ever tasted (it was a Delia)
