AIBU?

To be annoyed that newsreaders keep talking about "Baking Britain"

When I am sitting here in a cardigan contemplating putting the heating on for a couple of hours before bedtime?

The forecast for the rest of the week isn't much better.

Its only roasting in England (well it looks not bad in Wales I admit), we have a severe weather warning in Scotland for heavy rain tonight and we are into week 2 of the school holidays which have been spent mostly indoors sofar.

YANBU. I was flabbergasted to see the weather report today and how wet Scotland is. Poor you!

But: we are baking in the south. (I am not in London - thanks to whoever was in charge of making that decision.)

Baking England doesn't alliterate

I must admit to being a bit jealous as we have just returned from a camping trip in the highlands which was insanely windy for the time if year (at least it kept the midgies away).

I always check what the weather is for the whole country out of interest do Southerners never look at the top end of the map?

Been overcast and raining on and off all day here in North Wales. Thought it was going to be 29C, was all ready to try and get a tan today.

YANBU - the weather in Scotland today is crap. Damp, foggy, miserable and no sun to speak of.

It bugs me when the weather forecast comes on and it is preceded by a heatwave warning

We'll need the flood prevention helpline before we need advice on heatwaves, what a joke

"We'll need the flood prevention helpline before we need advice on heatwaves"

well we are apparently about to have hosepipe bans.

Could you push some water down hill towards the south? And maybe waft some cooler air down here while you're at it?

Roll on winter, says I.

I don't understand how hosepipe bans can be necesary. Our reservoirs must be extremely inefficient. This has been a dry start to the year but last summer in Scotland was like a monsoon. The rain was almost biblical!!!

oh well I don't understand it but apparently it's all to do with water taking its time to penetrate down to the blah blah table blah etc.

I believe most of London's water comes from very deep underground reservoirs and these have little to do with recent rain levels.

The hosepipe ban is cause the water companies don't have sharing facilities if would of course be far too easy to pipe water from the high rain areas of the country eh bit like last year when Barcelona were having to ship in water from France, as their neighbouring state were refusing to let them have water from the river that seperated the two of them

I don't think the rest of the UK matters terribly to the BBC. It's always the same - a vague wave of the hand in the direction of that Scotland place before they swing back to the S (and SE in particular) where it matters. I'm sure it must bug the Welsh and N Irish too.
