turnip - got caught at work and didn't make it in the end, but sounds like it was really interesting. My DD was one of those diagnosed at under a year - Dr Du Toit saw her at 6 months old, she wasn't even really weaned...Seemed a bit mad at the time, but in some ways I'm sure made things easier, as we never really had to change her diet.
ahhh - that makes sense. I did see your post re; hvs and GPS below and thought, oh that's like the (very good!) question asked at the Allergy Workshop.

Yes, it was good. Snacks would have been very welcome but I guess they need to keep costs to a minimum.

I was there - mine were the "contraversial" questions grin - so proud! The first question was not actually meant to be contraversial - I had been told by Nerys Roberts a paediatric dermatologist that the majority of baby excema cases are allergy related and on the continent nwould not have been referred to a dermatologist but an allergy specialist first. It is something I have always passed on to other MN posting on here as it has certainly seemed to me to be true - not of course that it covers every baby.

The second question re ignorance of GPs and HVs is a reflection of what I posted here and actually was to some extent answered by George albeit inadvertently - he tested us at 3 months [all tests sadly still accurate] and that is info I have always shared when people fobbed off and told "no point" testing babies ...

Overall a very worthwhile evening although perhaps a few snacks could have been provided given the timings?!
I was there! I thought it was excellent although Dr du Toit was a little chaotic in his presentation. Did learn some stuff though (and thought I "knew" it all grin) For example I had always been told (by Gideon Lack no less) that they can't allergy test properly before a year old, but that has now changed.

Thanks so much for this link - I have just booked my ticket!
The eczema group looks very interesting. I am not sure I can arrange babysitting at this short notice. Do they do these often?

I thought they would be expensive but even I can run to £15.00 smile

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
