Excema under one eye

Ds (2.7) developed excema under his left eye about 4 months ago. He doesn't have it anywhere else. Doctor prescribed hydrocortisone and aqueous cream which cleared it up but as soon as we stopped using the hydrocortisone it flared up again. Then tried antibiotics and again flared up again after treatment. Now using white paraffin morning and night but it's not improving. doesn't seem to bother ds but it's a bit unsightly. Any suggestions??

I'm slightly older than your DS, but every winter I get excema on my eyelids. I put it down to central heating & slather Oilatum on, which doesn't make it go completely but does stop me from wanting to scratch it. I also find it improves when I eat oily fish or take fish oil supplements.
Don't know if that is any help for you MrsCoops.

could it be the soap/shampoo or washing powder for his pillowcase etc that the skin there is sensitive to? It might be worth buying something preferably from a Health Shop rather than say Boots. The staff in those places are really up on what iritates the skin etc.

My ds suffers between two fingers on one hand, why not the rest of the fingers or on both hands I don't know but we keep on top of it with 'chickweed' cream from the healthshop.

Haven't changed any of the soap/washing products that I use.
Have been looking through the archive and lots of mns have recommended aveeno in the past. Might try and get some on the way home tonight. Should I get the baby one or will the regular one be fine?

mrscoops - you might not have changed - but they might have altered the ingredients slightly or added something 'new and improved' - Ariel did that and my dh came up like a babboon LOL

Just realised that washing powder was changed. Normally use Persi non bio but it wasn't available on tesco.com so was substituted for Tesco non bio.

Furball what is the cream your ds uses?

Ds2 has eczema around his eyes occasionally. I put eumo base on 3 times a day and it soon clears up. It's an over the counter thing and very mild. The only time he sits still is when I put the cream on him - it seems to sooth him immediately.
