my dd2 is two and has health problems which means that she can't control her bowels (it just spurts out...sorry!!!). But she's asking to be potty trained ("me wear pants" etc) and when she needs a wee she's fine.Has anyone successfully potty trained in this situation?

I also haven't started potty traing ds yet and he's 2.7. My eldest was fully trained at 2.8. Like your dd, ds2 has had alot of health problems and still doesn't really do formed stools, altough it is not running out of him either. Thankfully, he is showing no signs of even being remotely ready, so I am trying not to worry about it too much, but his dietician was telling me the other day that there is a medication that can be given to firm up the stools. Maybe it might be worth asking about?? Other than that, I really have no suggestions, but please know that I sympathise and wish you all the luck.

My ds is now 3, he has an intolerance to something in Cow's milk which gives him loose stools. He was able to do his wee's in the toilet long before anything else, we just used pull-ups as he thought they were like big-boy pants and couuld pull them down to do a wee, but they caught everything else. Ds was wee trained about 6 months before poos, but he wore undies most of the time (which got soiled by poo - but his was solid). If she was happy to wear pull ups and saw those as pants that would work for you.

However if she is asking wear proper undies then I think you need to see GP, HV or consultant about how you can do this without your whole house being covered in poo.

If an adult had this condition they would deffo give medication wouldn't they?
