If rain falls on my head, my barnet itches unbearably.

Walked from shop to car (about 3 mins) in drizzle, and itching head driving me insane!!!

Anyone else, or am I just a freak?

Don't quite react that strongly, but yeah, rain often brings me out in a rash, not pleasant at all....so, we can be freaks together

AitchTwoOh · 18/01/2007 20:23

wow, you're both freaks...
never heard of that reaction but it makes sense with all the pollution, doesn't it?

yeah, lol, it does make sense with teh pollution, etc...never had any trouble wiht allergies at all as a child, and then somehting possessed me to become a Nurse and that is when all that trouble started....saying that, as long as I don't work in a Hospital environment I have hardly any probs with eczema and allergies....

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 20:28

How weird, I thought hospitals were meant to be steril environments, ie nothing to be allergic to!

funny you should say that Fizz....I had a very bad reaction to a exboyfriend of mine, was really freaky...might aswell we decided it wasn't love afterall.

Not quite the same, but I have a problem with my hair and the rain. So much as a slight drizzle and my hair turns so greasy, I have to go straight home. A couple of hairdressers have put it down to the local powerstations/pollution.

Surely we have enough members to start Freaks Not-So-Anonymous?

Report
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:32

Well, I think it's all the antibiotics and all that that made me react, also, you get in contact with soooooooo many people...anyway, sterile environment is never good....my excuse for living in a house equalling a tip, lol ;)
My reactions got at one point very bad, and we were handling, very safely, chemotherapie when preparing it....it was very weird.
Thing is, as soon as I am out of the hospital it gets all better, which is fine, but then when I get back into it it starts again, and everytimes it's getting worse...hence my reluctancy to return into Nursing...

Or maybe Freaks United, lol

You are delicate little flowers, aren't you? Sounds horrid and very irritating.

3andnomore, what about community nursing - would that be any better?

Report
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:44

that would be an idea...although, you still get in contact with gloves and oitments, and what not on a daily basis.

I much prefer the term "delicate flower" to freak, I must say
Nothing delicate about me, but heh..

Report
winestein · 18/01/2007 20:45

I can forsee the problem with that though Edam...... what if it's raining?

Report
fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 20:56

I wish I looked delicate, but unfortunately look picture of strapping buxom good health, despite being allergic to lots of stuff.

Did hospital have sick building syndrome? I ask because I seem to be allergic to the school I teach in........

Weirder and weirder....

Hows about Amazonian Rain Forests Anon then? I mean, I'm 6'.
There's something in this....

Report
fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:09

Yes I'm Amazonian as well 5ft 8, but we couldn't call it Amazonian rainforests anon, because we are allergic to rainwater....or was that meant to be a pun which I am too dim to realise!

its funny cause i said this to DF the other day, and he said 'dont bedaft'

i dont actully get a rash, just a bit red and all itchy and feel like i need to go have a wash to get it off

Report
fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:44

That is exactly how I feel, I just want to wash my hair. Was once told by hospital consultant that I could not hoover due to dust allergy.....

Milked it for what it was worth, but eventually had to do some hoovering, despite my best efforts

fizzbuzz, this happens to me too.
sometimes my skin itches too. I expect it's all the nasties in rain, or it picks them up in the air or something.
