My 8 month ds has been diagnosed with a milk protein allergy and is on Pepti after having a severe reaction at 6 months, face and lip swelling, blisters etc. We have just seen the allergy clinic who confirmed this and that he isn't allergic to gluten (after a hive reaction he had to hipp ham & pasta jarred food). On Saturday he came up in hives to god knows what, no milk was near him. We had given him bread & soya marg but he was fine with them the next day and fine with his soya yoghurt. On Monday I called an ambulance as he came out in a hive reaction again but this time he fell asleep and started being sick in his sleep (really slimy) followed by a cough as if he'd smoked 40 a day.
I probably panicked a bit as I thought he was going to swell again. Anyway the only new thing he'd had that day was tinned tuna with pasta, soya marg, tomato and a white sauce and typically he loved it. I've since given him white sauce (made with olive oil) with a puree he?d already had before and he was fine on that so I have no idea what it is and I am now scared about giving him new things. I'm not a neurotic person but this has blown my confidence all over again. It doesn?t help that for the past month he has been a nightmare to get food into so I then get concerned about weight and calcium intake. My health visitor has been really unhelpful and I can't get hold of anyone from the allergy clinic. Has anyone had this? He?s had fresh salmon and plaice before with no problems. I feel very stressed at the mo and you should see the state of my skin, all my eczema has flared up! Poor little mite has inherited the allergy gene from me!!
Sorry for wittering on but any wise words would be so helpful as I need to get this in perspective.
Thanks, Hannah
