My mum says she has met someone whose doctor advised them that "too many carrots are known to aggravate excema". Any one else come across this?

Never heard of that before tbh. My son has exzema and I don't think carrots make it any worse.

hi everyone! well my daughter has had eczema for all her life and is now 5. we have just discovered she has an allergy to carrots. Its not as severe as her other allergies but we have been advised to only eat them in moderation. they have not said whether it contributes to her eczema but its an allergy so i presume it certainly wont help!

Gosh CMT - I'm glad I took the moderate Hmmmm line with Mum then (who does rather relish bad news). So it could be true then. Bother, bother, bother. We luuuurrrrvvvee carrots. Where did you get your allergy testing done?

Hmmm, this has made me think. DS has eczema, nut allergies etc. His diet is not very good so after school I started cutting up raw organic carrots for a snack. He told me it made his mouth itch - I thought he was just trying to get out of eating them!

My 5 month old dd started to get severe eczema around the time I started weaning her a few weeks ago, I was giving her pureed carrots only for the first couple of weeks now Ive started to give her sweet potato and butternut squash as well, and its not so bad now, there really could be some connection with the carrots now that I think about it.

No, oh no please not! Carrots are the only vegetable I can get into ds without a full on cat fight! Well have to go and get him re-tested soon so may just add that to the already growing list! thanks

Interesting. We'll try cutting carrots out of dd's diet for a while and see if it makes any difference.

well, it sounds more common than i thought. it's definately worth thinking about thats for sure. I just noticed with Chloe she became increasingly itchy after our cooked veg. another thing to remember our paediatric explained things are always worse in their raw state. you may notice more of a reaction
