My 20mth has peanut and sesame allergy. Wanted to go to Pizza Hut with him tomorrow - I have phoned them and looked at their website on their allergen list. The best base looks like stuffed crust - where it says N/I (not included) but this blabs on about cant guarantee 100% will not be cross contaminated before goods reach pizza hut and whilst in their kitchen. I have spoke to them and they said if I ask them on the day they will make sure it is cooked seperate to everything else and this will avoid cross contamination on site - any advice please - new to all this. Really wanted to still go out for meals once in a while? Cant go out and take his food as he goes mad for what you are eating.

hi hayleyhew, I also have a daughter with a peanut allergy. I hate to be the only cautious one but no we do not eat out with our daughter. I worry that people do not understand the allergy enough to trust them and that their are to many risks with their ingredients/contamination. Just looked on the pizza hut home site and checked the allergen information, downloaded brocher and it had 't' for trace on all the pizza's on the list for peanuts. some for sesame even had 'P' for present and the rest 't' for trace. My daughter was found to be allergic at two and a half years, she is now nearly 5 years. Excepts eating her own food wonderfuly at school and takes her own food for parties. Hope this helps.

I think you learn to know what risks you can take. Children need to learn to manage their allergy themselves from a very early age.

It is 7 years since my son had his first allergic reaction(allergies to tree nuts and seseme all started one weekend, later on peanuts and sunflower seeds) and I have found the only times he has never had a problem eating out.Although once in burger king totally forgot that put seseme seeds on the children's bun. He didn't give me a chance and he marched up to the counter and announced "I can't eat this" He was only 4 at the time.
We have found restaurants extremely helpful.
Wagamammas are brilliant, my local chinese also very helpful. We go to center parcs every year in netherlands and again no problems.
I have never supplied our own food at parties or if he goes out to tea, parents are really good and usually ask if this or that is okay.
