Neocate vs Neocate Advance

Those of you whose LO's are/were on Neocate, how many of you switched to Neocate Advance at 1 yr old?

We couldn't convince DS to drink it but, he was given the baby version when he was more than 2 years old. So I think, that as long as your child is eating a balanced diet it may not be absolutely essential to change it, but that's only my asumption.

Neocate advance now comes flavoured (banana & something combination), it tastes almost as good as a milk shake, but DS hated it anyway...

thanks chandra. I am not sure DD would drink flavoured anyway as she refuses anything sweet (!!). But interesting to hear you were offered the basic stuff at 2.

We were also recently prescribed normal neocate for ds aged 13 months - in fact the paediatrician had not heard of Advance! Have been trying to persuade ds to drink some over the last 2 days as I am dropping a bf feed, but to no avail, he will not touch it...

IS hideous isn't it? I tried to convince DS to drink it by drinking some myself.... and run to the toilet so DS didn't see me spiting it out.

The flavoured one only came to the market a couple of months ago, DS's paediatrician prescribed it and was not even in the NHS list! so... he was nice enough to send me a sample sachet but no joy with DS.

Just as a curious note... do you know how much a sachet of neocate costs? nearly £5.00 per sachet (looking for a different flavour I found the price, and after calculating a year intake of it costing more than £600 per year I almost took the unused box of baby sachets back to the pharmacy.

The paediatrician who prescribed the normal Neocate to us said that one tub costs £17! I think Nutramigen is really expensive too so do feel quite bad about the two tubs of that we tried and then threw away because he wouldn't take them, plus the Neocate that looks like it is going the same way.
