Is this possibly lactose intolerance?

DD is 12 and has always drank a lot of milk and eats cheese and yogurt regularly.

A couple of months ago I treat her to a large frozen yogurt when we were out shopping. About an hour later she started getting stomach cramps which lasted about an hour and were very painful.
(I'd had the same frozen yogurt and the same lunch and was fine.)

Totally forgot about it until last week when she drank a yop and then (within half an hour) developed the same severe stomach cramps and had diarrhea.

Last night she had the same cramps and diarrhea. She'd had chicken and pasta for dinner, as had everyone else but had had a yogurt after dinner and after lunch and had had milk on her breakfast cereal.

Each time, she had been fine within a couple of hours.

She has a routine check up with the GP due soon so I'll mention it, but just wondered if some sort of dairy intolerance could be the cause?

Maybe. Do start a food diary for your DD and talk to her about recording symptoms. It can be easy to discern patterns where there are none in the case of gut disorders!

Really hope that it is something straightforward. Also, sometimes lactose intolerance can emerge and then disappear a few years later...
