Hello, and sorry your baby is being sicky. I think that if you are at all concerned, you should speak to your health visitor.

Some babies are just more 'sicky' than others, so if your baby is otherwise well I wouldn't be too worried. Even when it looks like they have thrown up an entire feed, they have usually managed to keep a fair bit down. Still, I really do think you should talk to your health visitor about this.

"Colic" can mean all sorts of things to different people, but usually it means that a baby cries for ages and ages, especially in the evenings, and can't be comforted. Many arch their backs as if they are in pain. Here is an NHS webpage about colic. Most babies grow out of this by the time they are about three months old.

Sometimes colic can be because of an allergy or intolerance. If your baby does turn out to be a bit sensitive to the formula she is having, then comfort formula will not help, and may make the problem worse (it contains thickeners which help the milk to stay down, even if the baby really needs bring it back up because it is hurting her).

Mostly, babies who are colicky start this when they are just a few weeks old. How long has your baby been on formula? Does she have any symptoms apart from sickiness? Any eczema?

I hope she feels better soon. Let us know how you get on.

Beckie, does she cry a lot? Does she look like she is in discomfort?
