Allergies and intolerances

6 month old projectile vomiting. Why?

Ds is now 6 months old, a good weight and seems perfectly healthy.

Except for the increase in projectile vomiting.
It happens about every other day and I cant see a pattern other than it's usually after a bottle of formula.
He is fully weaned (did this carefully, and doesnt overeat. No hives, eczema etc.

Could it just be trapped wind?
Am wondering if it could be an allergy.
Do I need to take him to GPs/ HV do you think or the odd occurence of this acceptable?

Opinions please?

Trapped wind usually just cause a posset, if he is projectile vomiting it is more likely something in his diet, have you tried a different formula? Which one is he on?

sorry.mum2funkydude. just back from putting others to bed.
He was on sma but hated it. Now on Aptimil. Had milk challenges in hosp due to family history of dairy intolerance. Seemed fine.

He had 2 cubes of carrot/pea and dash of red pepper for tea then a tiny petit filous yog.
Bath then 11/2 hrs later a 8oz bottle of formula.

Burped him then he projectile vomited across the room

Is that too much food do you think ?
He is roughly 50th centile on charts.

HAve you tried writing down what you give him on the days that he vomits to start a process of elimination?

Is it possible that the petit filous is to rich for him?

If he doesn't have a temp. I wouldn't think he has a bug. How long has this been going on?

Maybe someone with the same experience might have better advice.

its been happening for about 3-4 weeks. I will keep a record of his foods from now on, thats a good idea.

Otherwise he is well. Teething a lot at once but no temp, no runs, usual slight possetting.

The yogurt has made me think actually. But in my other dairy intolerant kids they tolerated yogurt better than other dairy products.

He isnt keen on any fruit so other than veggies its tricky knowing what to give him yet.
He had grated cheese as finger food yesterday and I would've expected that to cause the vomiting but no.
Poor little mite has an empty stomach night. I expect he will wake thru the night (groan)

Was it strawberry flavoured yogurt ? I have heard a lot of babies can react to strawberries.

hi upandaway ... my ds isnt great with dairy so I give him the alpro soya yoghurts which he loves. If you have family history of dairy intolerance it might be worth giving them a go (I'd try the smooth ones first though).
