I have just found out via blood test that I have cows milk intolerance. Ive been told to avoid it for a month then re-introduce it gradually.

Can i ask if anyone can tell me what this means . Is this commenon -? do i need to be tested for lactose intolernace also? Should I now avoid this for the rest of my life? Im hoping if i eliminate it from my diet it may help my migraines but Im not sure what other impact it will have on me if I continue eating/drinking it.

Any advice would be most welcome - thank you

I think the best thing to do is eliminate it for two weeks, and see if the headaches go away.

Don't panic, you will be fine.

After the 2-4 weeks are up, let us know what the result is, and we can then help you.

There is also something called A2 milk which you could look into, but do that AFTER you've done the elimination diet.

I've been dairy free since over 6 months and you do get used to it.

Llyodjam where did you get that blood test? I started a post yesterday about having cut out dairy to see if I can improve Migraines. I haven't had a blood test, though. I used to be allergic to milk as a small child (vomiting, hives).

Lloyd, really?! Blimey I didn't know. How much was it and how many allergens did it test?

But you don't need to pay for tests to find out intollerances - you simply see if giving something up helps matters!

I'm lactose intolerant - have I had any tests - no. Do I avoid things that have lactose in them - yes. Do I get symptoms back if I eat something with lactose in it accidentally? Yes.

And, indeed, not even hospital overseen tests are necessarily accurate - I had a prick test for a possible allergen and it came out negative, but the result when I got some of the allergen made it very clear that it was a proper allergy.
