My DS has multiple allergies to food but despite eliminating these all from his diet he is still really unsettled at night with itching, a rash and blocked up nose.

I'm starting to wonder about dust mite. But is there a way of testing before I go crazy replacing all bedding, his carpets etc! He's had RAST tests done for food, can it be done for dust mites also?

We don't see allergy consultant till november :(

Thanks.

Yes I am allergic to mites, was done with pollens and animal hair so maybe they test specific groups at a time
Will your surgery not do it so you have results before you see consultant?

Hi - yes, we had it done as part of a group of 6 which included food ones and cat fur so it was just a mixture of what they said were the most common allergens.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I will try to see the GP and ask for blood tests but I just know they won't do them. It's so frustrating trying to get what you need to be done!

But now I know that I can ask for him to be tested. They probably did not do them because we have no pets.

Don't need blood tests, ds diagnosed by skin prick test. Ask for referral to allergy clinic, at st thomas's if near London.

Saw great (locum!) GP today who has ordered RAST test.

We are already with consultant and allergy specialist but next apt is not till Nov and these are new symptoms so want to get things moving ASAP. The GP said he would write to get apt brought forward but I know that's not going to happen due to bloody long waiting list.
