Allergic Rash that looks like stinging nettle rash

I have 20mo twins. One had lots of problems with eczema up until she was one but it disappeared (and didn?t seem to be food related) and has never come back and the other one has never had any skin problems.
Took them to a farm last Friday DT2 put her hand in a flower bed and came up in what looked like a stinging nettle rash on her hand, she wasn?t bothered by it all, we assumed it was a nettle sting. She has since been out in the garden since we have finally got some good weather and it has happened again, Sunday was on her knees and hands and today my mum says she has it under her eyes and DT1 has it too.
It looks exactly like nettle rash, red skin with raised white lumps, doesn?t seem to itch or be painful and goes away after a couple of hours.
Does anyone know anything specifically that causes a rash like this? It doesn?t look like hives according to Dr Google.
Do I need to take them to the GP.

I know this won't help but my DD who is nearly 2 has had the same symptoms for 2 weeks but as you said it disappears after an hour or so. DD is ginger and very pale almost translucent and got it today on her face just after I pulled her jumper over her head. I haven't changed washing powder. I really hope we both get this solved x

This is a typical allergic reaction and is definitely 'hives', you can treat it with a dose of antihistamines. It is very difficult to know what has caused this because everyone has different triggers. The best thing is to make a note every time this occurs of what your child has touched, eaten, where they were and what they were doing. Then over time you might see a common denominator. For us it took over a year to work out that my daughter was allergic to horses, we thought it was grass, hay, pollen etc until she had a very severe reaction after coming into direct contact with a horse and we realised that everytime she had got the hives we had been near to horses or someone who had been riding. It's not very scientific but this is exactly what a GP will suggest if you go and see them. I suggest that from now on when you go out on day trips you take some Piriton or similar with you in your bag just in case the reaction becomes more severe over time and with exposure as it did in our case.

Thanks both. I've started a food diary so will see if it shows anything up but I think it must be something outside - pollen etc so will keep an eye on what she's touching.

The actual name for it is urticaria and it is an allergic reaction, but can be to many many things. A hospital doctor told me that a dose will not leave until it has systematically covered the whole body (bit by bit), which did happen with ds1, but not ds3. Never did find out what was causing it, but ds1 also had diarrhea at the same time.

DS gets urticaria when exposed to horses, he used to get it after eating eggs but has now grown out of it. DH also gets it but has been unable to find the trigger although the cold can start it sometimes. We treat with piriton.

deff allergic reaction, as others have said carry piriton with u where ever u go!

My 2 yr old has it when she first started we thought it was hive or nettle rash so we did not put so much thought into it until she we went to the doctors & they said it was house mite & we all have it some people just react more because the skin is sensitive,It appear more when she out in the cold or when it's to windy so we give her citrizine to prevent the allergy rash & hope with time she will out grow it.
