Hi just looking for a bit of advice re my 14month ds.
He was diagnosed with cows milk allergy at 5 months. He appeared to out grow it by 10 months and could tolerate normal dairy products and aptimil formula so long as gaviscon added due to reflux. Now after introducing cows milk after his first birthday he has experience diarrhoea for 2 months now ( he is on 98th percentile for weight so not overly concerned and healthy in all other ways, no dehydration etc...) on advice of hv have been trying alpro soya toddler milk for 3 weeks and no dairy still no improvement. He eats a lot of wheat eg cereals and bread so could a gluten intolerance be behind this or would it have shown earlier? (He had the winter vomiting bug about 2 weeks after trying cows milk, could this have started something?)
Any ideas?
Thanks for reading, know its long!

Oh should add nappies runny, explosive and smell so acidic. He gets bad nappy rash even if changed the moment he does a poo
Thanks Smile

It is very common for children who r allergic to dairy to also be allergic to soya. Try something like kara coconut milk and avoid soya for a bit aswell. It's possible the bug triggered a temporary lactose intoloerence.

I would avoid dairy and soya for a bit and you should see an improvement.

Make an appointment with your GP and see if they will give a prescription for a hyper allergic milk (but be prepared for them to say no as it's ££).

If you see a dietician you may get it through them.

He has had nutramigen before and am sure if I asked for it again the GP would prescribe it (our GP is fantastic) but he hated it last time and fairly sure he will refuse if this time.
I thought coconut milks and almond milks were unsuitable as main drinks in under 2 years?

Aptamil pepti might be a bit more palatable my dd had no problem taking it :) dd2 was about 14 months when we saw dietician who said she could go onto alpro junior plus or KARA coconut milk. But many gps will prescribe up to age two. Maybe try the aptamil if he will prescribe?

Great thank you, have just made appointment for him and will push for a referral to dietician also. I am a bit unsure of how much they will do as he is healthy and doing great weight wise but its just not normal to have such acidic diarrhoea that makes your bum red raw at the slightest contact. He had been sent home from nursery a couple of times too as they say policy is 3 loose nappies and the child had to be picked up regardless of cause. Hmm
Thanks again for the advice Smile

Agree with advice above and would add that it might be worth asking GP to do coeliac blood test on your DS too just in case.
