Hi, just looking for any advice really. Dd would like her ears pierced sometime in the future which I have been putting off due to all her problems. Any advice or experiences to share? She is anaphylactic to peanuts, multiple food allergies, Ibroprofin allergy, dust allergies, eczema, asthma and pollen allergies. She is soon to be eleven and I am desperately trying to let her have a little more indipendance/freedom before starting secondary school, which has made me start to think about this topic and when to give her the go ahead................

Just reporting back incase this is of interest for anyone else. Been doing a little research and it looks like two places of interest (when we have it done) are our local beauty salons which use the Caflon System for piercing. What I like about this is they can use caflon titanium studs for people with allergies. A lovely lady from Caflon rang me today and had a good chat. Confirming the titanium is the best option for us for a piercing and then can change to gold once healed at a later date. Thus avoiding any Nickle content on piercing incase of allergy or of inducing an allergy to Nickle. She recommend getting a doctors note/letter to take to the salon agreeing it can be done, as they may ask for this in my daughters case, or she also said in some doctors surgeries can even pierce your childs ears? I shall enquire on this also. She also said to question the salons to make sure the person has a diploma and licence. I did query 2 other tattoo and piercing studios but one said my daughter would have to be done the needle method and have a titanium labret but that it would be medical grade and so would not cause allergic reactions which was on the right lines but the needle method put me off and the other place only recommended being done with 9ct gold plated stud on piercing which I have heard low grade gold can contain nickle also. So I am swayed to the caflon system by far at the moment and they are only a phone call away if I want to ask any other questions. She did recommend the six week summer hols to have it done when we decide as it gives plenty of time for healing and not having to take it out due to any school rules.
