Has anyone tried to make a Xmas pud with egg replacer?

I've just made a batch of dairy / nut free mincemeat and am getting excited about Xmas food... even wondering whether to attempt a Xmas pudding - which I guess is now or never as it will need to sit for a while. I have had good results with egg replacer for a couple of our old favourite fruitcake recipes... anyone tried to make a xmas pudding with it? I'm thinking unveiling it on the 25th and finding it's gross could be quite disappointing :)

A quick google turned this up - there seem to be plenty of recipes out there without egg in. I've never tried egg replacer, so will be watching to see if anyone's made it work - I miss Christmas pud!

I'm doing one of these this year. I have been trying to make stuff that is egg-free to begin with, as I have found a lot of the recipes that try to replicate egg-containing foods are really disappointing. I can't use royal icing of course, but I plan to try plain old icing sugar and water. Delia has a gorgeous gingerbread recipe with cinnamon and cloves and orange zest that tastes really Christmassy, so I'm hoping the whole thing will work as an alternative.

That looks amazing! Might give it a try and the Delia recipe sounds delicious. We'll see if anyone else has any tips on the xmas pud front but I'm sure that will be an excellent alternative and much more exciting for the little people.

I've made Christmas pud with egg replacer for the last 10 years, and it's always been absolutely delicious. I've used various forms of egg replacer and they've all worked well. Have used orgran, and also allergycare egg free omelette mix.

I think because Christmas pudding doesn't "rise" in the same way as sponge cake, the egg is really just there for binding, if that makes sense, rather than for giving the pudding structure.

Anyway, in my experience works fine! Happy baking!
