Watching Tangled with dd and ds. Not sure if it is all going over ds's head. In a way I hope so, but I just hope he will ask me if confused.

For those not very Walt Disney, it is the story of Rapunzel, kidnapped as a baby and brought up with a person pretending to be her mum. Sensitive stuff for Disney!

Just to clarify I am concerned that he will wonder about the whole baby thing and someone as a mum and another mum. We talk about his adoption a bit but he is not very forthcoming and I doubt he would see any connection with the film, which is of course 100$ right but I wonder if he will ask me about it.

My DD (not adopted) asked a lot about families after watching Tangled and it was an interesting starting point for a conversation about how families vary and not all children are raised by their birth parents (or as DD knows the seed daddy and egg mummy). But I did think that it was important to stress the difference between RL families and Rapunzel being kidnapped.

Very true Pico2.

Luckily he was in the look when the bit happened where she realised she was the baby in the castle, near the end, that is the most 'scary' bit in terms of adoption - lost princess etc.

DD, our BC, has been asking about this as her brother is adopted. I have explained it by telling get that it us the OPPOSITE situation to adoption i.e. 'Rapunzel is taken from her parents who are able to look after her and meet her needs to love with someone who really can't. Whereas with adoption...' Etc etc.

This fucking new interface is just too awful on my phone. Might have to flounce soon.

names yes, we just explained it that she is a horrible witch, which I am not (although I can be a bit grrumpty!) . I did enjoy singing the song 'Mother knows' best at dinner!

Just noticed at the start she is I watched it back she is singing to the hair not the girl!

Nanes - completely agree. Interface is hideous and am thinking of semi retiring. Hate it.

I like your response to Tangled, though.
