In April I posted about problems we were having DD (12). Post here. Since then things have gotten worse. We are taking her to a child psychiatrist on Monday for an evaluation and hopefully some advice. I don't know how much this person knows about adoption. Any advice on what I should tell her (apart from the facts of course). Does any of this sound like attachment problems to you? Would she have that after 8 years? I know that from the list of challenges below it will sound as if DD is a very unhappy, constantly stressed child but it's not really THAT bad. She e.g. recently started a course in magic which she is enjoying hugely. She is funny, creative, resilient and highly intelligent.

Challenges
Overweight, fussy eater
Although her school performance is above average it does not reflect her ability
Often loses things and fails to turn in homework
Lies to parents and teachers
Have stolen money from mom’s purse and dad’s wedding ring
Impulsive
Easily distracted
Forgetful
Difficulty planning, e.g. doing homework that is due next week rather than the work due next day
Parents, teacher and psychologist suspect ADHD (inattentive type)
Low level conflict between parents and biological grandmother causes stress
Biological grandmother undermines parents
Gender: “I want to be a boy”
