Adoption

Approval panel minutes and the matching stage

As you will remember, we got turned down at the approval panel and then got a YES from the agency decision maker. How likely is it that our panel minutes will affect our matching process? Our sw has said that the minutes will be available to interested agencies, do they actually receive and read them as a matter of course, or would it only happen if the child's agency specifically requested them? Realistically how likely are they to actually read our panel minutes (and the horrendous questions we were asked?)

Surely they don't read the minutes from the panel? Shock

I don't know Merry, my sw said they would be available to them and that it could be a concern... I thought it was all behind us and now it got me worried again! Does anyone know, I know there are social workers posting here... Hoping they will see this and share their experience

My SW was very particular about getting some inaccuracies in the panel minutes corrected (I never saw them, it was things that were said when I wasn't in there) so I guess it could have an impact. Remembering your other thread, it sounded like some people on panel had made their mind up before you went in. Hopefully the minutes will reflect that, and how you answered their concerns, and so would put a child's SW's mind at rest rather than causing concern.

All they will be concerned about hopefully will be finding the right match so will be reading your information etc.

After all you have a good track record don't you? You are not going into this blind! Xx

Your approval panel mins go to the linking panel along with the agency decision

It was bad enough being turned down at approval, I don't think I can cope being turned down at matching panel...

I think the fact you have adopted before will be in your favour! I remember you saying they admitted you answered the questions really well at panel so even if they read the minutes they will see that. Good luck Thanks

Presumably the minutes were used by the decision maker when they overturned the panels decision and approved you, so they must have been happy about what they contained. I don't think there is any part of the adoption process that doesn't leave you second guessing yourself, but try not to assume the worst (easier said than done I know!).
