Woman's Hour programme - Monday 21 July 2014 on women who have had numerous children removed, balanced and hopefully hopeful IMHO!

Hi all, I just link to yesterday's Woman's Hour programme.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b049y3mh

The programme features The Pause Project in East London, which aims to provide a 'pause' to give women a chance to change the direction of their lives after having had numerous children removed.

The programme features an interview with one of the women involved in the project where she talks about what happened to her, what part she played in it all and the pressures and situation in which she was in. It is, of course, just one person's story but it is very interesting and I feel both balanced and 'hopefully' hopeful.

Italian, I heard some of this while driving...it was very moving.

I have to admit I was surprised with one explanation of why some women have had multiple children taken from them and then carry on having more and more babies. Even when they know the children will be removed at birth...

It hadn't occurred to me that when they're pregnant, these (often abused and vulnerable) women get the attention that they crave.

The focus is on them for once. Finally someone (NHS, SS) wants to look after them.

The rest of the time they tend to be ignored Hmm

It came across very clearly in a documentary I watched, I will try and find it again.
