Coming home, housework?

HI,
I hope it's ok for me post here. In less than 2 weeks DS will be coming home. Intros starting next week. We are fostering him on a permanent basis and nay adopt him in future but due to his additional needs he will have better access to services.

Anyway we are super excited and very nervous and this nay seem like a dumb question but should I think about getting someone in, just for a few weeks, to keep on top of housework while we concentrate on getting to know/bonding with DS? Or should we just do basic minimum and catch-up when DS is a bit more settled?

Your thoughts very much appreciated. We want to get this right for DS......

From our own experience, I wouldn't have wanted anyone in the house when we first brought DD home - things were unsettled enough as it was. Housework can always wait :)

I suppose. Was thinking I'd organise it for when we maybe went our for a walk or something but am liking the leave the housework idea..... Lol.

LO is only very little so the least disruption the better.... You're right. Thanks

How old is DS?

When our DD's came home we actually found having some housework to do was a good thing (didn't worry about the big stuff though!).

One, because they liked 'helping' and it actually was quite good fun and bonding giving them dusters and all doing the same thing together - they love mopping now! We also made a big thing about 'now we're going to put nice clean sheets on for you so it will be all nice when you go to sleep tonight.

And two, we could see how they gradually became more secure by letting us be out of the room more and more and seeing us doing things as part of a normal routine.

Thank you. LO is 16 months but does have some delays ( not yet walking for example). We are really excited and can't wait for LO to come home x
