Okay, people are doing 'how's your year been' threads so i thought i'd do one for us lot - considering life as an adoptive parent is often quite different from other parents experiences!

How's your year been? The good, the bad, and the strange!! The people who only became parents this year, or are still being approved, and those like me who think they've been doing this far too long Grin

Lilka's Year

The Good- All the kids have made progress this year!

DD2 managed a full supermarket trip by herself and as a reward got to help bake a very yummy chocolate cake!

She has discovered boys Shock Confused

She has done really well at school (special school) and had her best parents evening yet!

She appears to have stopped stealing (although i am still discovering old stolen items of clothes)

DD1 is doing really well with her job and she is also starting to meet new people and she is managing to make lasting friendships Smile At 24 this has taken some time

She is also getting on very well with her siblings... although we'll see how contact with her final sibling goes Confused

DS is finally happy to go to school

His seperation anxiety is slowly going and he is also liking bedtime alot more

DD2 and DS first mum writes thaat he is in her best place in life for a long time and I hope that she continues to get her life back on track

And me... I have a new haircut and am preparing them for a possible new brother or sister as very soon the AID will go ahead and I might have a bump Smile I am VERY VERY excited!!

Hats off to both of you for your courage and strength.

We had a very exciting and demanding year. Moved house, started dd1 at school, but above all WE GOT DD2! She has been with us since the summer and is the most fabulous, funny, bright, charming child. We are all smitten (including dd1).

The adoption isn't final yet, so lots of tedious goings-on, but I am so very happy that we finally have our second child, one more wonderful than I could ever have dared to hope.

Wow all - certainly action an action packed year for you all!!

We have had a demanding year. Good, but demanding.

Some friends and I started a little business venture, we went through the adoption approval process (exhausting but enlightening!), we were approved (yay!!), me and friends have got book deal, and we have a potential match.

2010 has been a huge year for me in terms of me learning a lot about myself and growing as a person. My skin feels like it fits me more prefectly than it ever has Smile.

I am really looking forward to 2011 as i have no idea what this year will bring but i'm definitely UP for the challenge!!!

what a good idea Lilka Smile

2010 has been a good year for DS and I. The year started with me in not such great health and has ended with me being, well, fairly normal I guess. A few check ups early next year and a few vitamin deficiencies but hopefully nothing that the odd suppliment won;t resolve.

DS started school and having been incredibly clingy for months now seems to have settled down and starts full days in January.

Looking forward to 2011 though I need to get a job now that my health seems to be up to it!

2010 has been good dd age 7 is fab funny sweet and very sensitive she sometimes gets upset about being adopted feeling different from her school friends but on the whole is a little love if I could wrap her up in a pappouse and keep her with me all the time I would .

We have finally come to the conclusion that we will concentrate on being mummy and daddy to a only child and doing the best for her . our finances are just about to take a dramatic downturn so life is going a bit scary
So weighing everything up it would be traumatic to add a new child into our small family
We have several other reasons that I cannot say on here Smile
