how muh do you spend on gifts for your children at christmas?

(31 Posts)
and how old are they?

one of my frinds told me so far shes spent a good 200quid on her 3.5 year old.

i was a bit shock
as i'm still thinking of ideas for my dd 2.4

just wondered what sort of spend is average?
and wondering how much it depends on how much you spend on them throught the year ?
dd is stiring now, but when i come back, i'll come and find your other thread smile
will your dd move rooms when she gets a bed. dd is in the nursery at mo which is yellow with giraffes, mothercare zoo range. she is moving into the bigger room when she gets a bed. smile
if you have wood everthing else you need a wooden bed too
i agree

smile
i really want wood to match her wardrobe and chest of drawers and then get a bookcase too.
got rid of a high single bed last weekend so got to start decorating now, pale pink or pale lilac, not sure yet.
thanks for link, its pretty and i like the duvet.
this one looked lovely in the shop

you can also get a little side table with the drawer with the crystal knob, i though oh thats nice

dd is still in a cot bed

ah just seen you want wood not metal.

how about some fairies hanging from the celing?
18mo DTs - we might spend £20 in total blush

Well they will get so much from friends and family and they don't even know what's going on.

When they are older probably around £50 each.
yes link it please, so far im liking the mothercare single bed, i think its £100 plus a mattress but its nice and low and i want wood not metal.
she wants a fairy room, so im getting her a butterfly theme with pink and lilac and green, butterfly rug and cushions and stickers, carpet is pale green so think it will all go. is that fairy enough? i cant stand the disney princess stuff but would relent to fifi/peppa for a year if she insisted but hoping to go straight to proper girly room.
things seem a bit better with dh thanks for askingsmile
we are both sort of keeping our heads down and working hard atm, him at work me at home.
his final exams are in december and then we will be free to spend time together in the evenings and weekends and that will make all out lives alot better and easier
and if he passes it will feel like real freedom.
the next month i'll just like a single mum really, but i'm getting theresmile.

i haven't seen your other thread i'll take a look

i saw a really nice girls bed in next the other day, it was rather glitzy
shall i link it?

ive got dd some play shoes, magic painting book, baby/teddy bottle
thats it really so far.

i'm supposed to be looking for xmas gifts now but keep going on here grin
We also use charity shops for many books too - you can pick up decent children's books for 20p/50p a time. Fab!

We started pocket money at 5y - started with £1 a week, which goes up by 50p with each birthday. So at 7y she nw has £2 a week.

Fortunately DD seems to have avoided the "I want" stage so far, and, although she does get quite a lot ebing an only child and only grandchild/niece, she is not spoilt and not an expecting type of girl.
I never have a budget TBH. It very much depends on that year's particular big present, and what DD needs/wants at the time.

I guess we normally send anywhere between £100-200 on her gifts in total. last year, however, it was much more as she got a digital piano (about £600-700) as well as Take That tickets (had bought in summer but kept as a suprise) plus some other bits. But that was a one off.

When she was younger it was less. DD is 7y now.

And yes I buy things throughout the year, and she gets pocket money (which she saves for bigger items). I buy things like books all the time, and little bits every so often depending on the situations.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
