using a tumble dryer on a sunny day

Asking for a friend

reluctantphotographer Sun 08-Jun-14 13:08:01

None at all. Towels are horrible if they are dried outside and shirts need ironed if they're hung on the line.

Also, depends how busy I am and if it's likely to rain before I get back. I work full time - I need to turn the laundry round quickly and efficiently.

Hakluyt Sun 08-Jun-14 13:08:59

Sorry. Very high.

TroyMcClure Sun 08-Jun-14 13:10:01

oh I always do towels as they are piss easy to hang out. I liek em scratchy.
Its all the pants and bloody socks and t shirts you have to iron I my friend hates

Freckletoes Sun 08-Jun-14 13:10:52

Incredibly high! Use the sun! We don't and never have had a tumble dryer, evil things.

kukeslala Sun 08-Jun-14 13:12:12

Can you mostly dry and the pop in for 20mins to finish?

TroyMcClure Sun 08-Jun-14 13:12:14

oh your loss! They are aces

Frusso Sun 08-Jun-14 13:12:32

No guilt at all.

Which reminds me I have to stick my washing on.

FourEyesGood Sun 08-Jun-14 13:14:22

High. Tumble driers are unnecessary, especially in good weather.

TroyMcClure Sun 08-Jun-14 13:14:26

i do have a Rl mate who hates washing dried outside. Doesn't even have a line

sunbathe Sun 08-Jun-14 13:14:30

None at all.

I have 3 washes on the outside line and towels in the tumble dryer.

MrsDavidBowie Sun 08-Jun-14 13:15:00

I've done 7 loads today...2 were towels/bath mats. They're in the dryer as I haven't got room on the rotary dryer.
Shoot me

ThingsThatShine Sun 08-Jun-14 13:15:31

I never use a tumble drier but to each their own, for me it's mainly about my own energy bill!

reluctantphotographer Sun 08-Jun-14 13:17:51

I have cheap electric at night time. That's when the drier goes on smile well just before I get up - it's on a timer plug! I love it it has made my life so much easier! I work and I leave the house before 8am and I'm back at 6 three nights a week and late the other nights. My drier is a lifesaver for me at the minute.

TSSDNCOP Sun 08-Jun-14 13:18:29

I try to have no guilt - too draining.

BeyondBurma Sun 08-Jun-14 13:18:35

Ridiculous to waste energy when you can dry outside.

I do object pretty strongly for environmental reasons.

High, tumble dryer is for wet days only here. I love crunchy towels. I put up a second line this year so we could cut down dryer use still further.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Sun 08-Jun-14 13:20:27

I dont have a TD. I have a dehumidifier and felt guilty about using it on sunny/dry days even when i had no washing line! My mum did a real number on me with the 'washing out on the line' business grin

beccajoh Sun 08-Jun-14 13:21:39

My washing dries in an hour on the line in this weather. I've absolutely no idea why anyone would waste electricity (money, our children's future etc) on a day like this. We're not precious about having soft towels in this house, even the baby gets a scratchy one wink

OnlyLovers Sun 08-Jun-14 13:22:25

Very high.

Well, not guilt, really, but just why wouldn't you dry things in the sun if you can? They smell so beautiful.

AWimbaWay Sun 08-Jun-14 13:22:59

None, I don't have a washing line.

headlesslambrini Sun 08-Jun-14 13:24:32

Nope no guilt here today. I work f/t and want to have at least a tiny amount of the weekend to enjoy

StickEmUpSkywards Sun 08-Jun-14 13:24:38

I dont have any outside space. I'll use why tumble if id like !

Mrsjayy Sun 08-Jun-14 13:25:55

No guilt at all clothes need dried I dont want wet washing in the house meh I dont care enough

TheSarcasticFringehead Sun 08-Jun-14 13:28:33

Never had a tumble drier, but if it I did, then probably quite high (but I wouldn't be guilty enough not to use it, probably!)
